We’re pretty disappointed to see this being shared about JK Adventure Co, as there is a lot of context missing from this post and we’d like to clarify what actually happened.
This customer came into our workshop without a booking. Despite already having a full day of booked work, because he was a local we decided to help him out and prioritise getting him back on the road.
To get the job completed as quickly as possible, we pulled FOUR mechanics off other booked jobs and had them work on his vehicle at the same time. This is why the job was completed in approximately 1–1.5 hours — not because it was only one hour of labour. Had one mechanic completed the work, the vehicle would have been in the workshop considerably longer.
The work involved replacing all four bearings, including the bearing components, seals, split pins and dust caps. The front two were disc-caliper assemblies, which involve additional labour compared with lazy drums and would normally attract an additional charge. We did not charge him extra for this.
We also supplied castle nuts at no additional charge, gave him TWO extra pairs of bearings to take with him for free, and applied a 10% local discount to the bearing service.
We genuinely thought we were doing the right thing by rearranging our already-booked workshop, putting four mechanics onto an unbooked job and getting a local customer back on the road as quickly as possible.
The fact that four qualified mechanics worked together and completed the job quickly does not mean the value of the work, parts or labour suddenly disappears.
We’re always happy for customers to question an invoice or speak to us directly if they have concerns. What is disappointing is seeing our business publicly called a “rip-off” without the full circumstances being mentioned.
We work hard to look after both locals and travellers who come through our workshop, and we’ll continue to do so.
There are always two sides to a story — this is ours.
