A Wovenspoke design enables commuters to wheel, walk and scoot around town in stylish handmade accessories whilst alerting other commuters to their presence on the road. The hand-woven patterns in Wovenspoke designs contain retro-reflective threads that respond to light in the same way that reflective strips work on fluorescent safety vests. When not subject to direct light the threads disappear i

nto the woven design. This means that the commuter feels comfortable wearing the accessories as part of their everyday outfit rather then having to take them off and store them somewhere for the ride home.

General information

Wovenspoke is committed to using sustainable design and manufacturing practices. All textiles, yarns and leathers used to create Wovenspoke designs are recycled from other manufacturers off-cuts and second hand textiles. All materials are sourced as locally as possible. The retro reflective yarn does not fit into the above category. This yarn is made from polyester and crushed glass. It is hoped that one day in the near future this yarn will be produced sustainably. All woven textiles are hand-woven by the designer in her studio and on her 8-shaft table loom. Wovenspoke patterns are drafted so that there is no waste left after cutting. All promotional printing uses vegetable inks on 100% recycled paper made from consumer waste. All Wovenspoke commuting and delivering is done by Bike, post or public transport. It is hoped that as Wovenspoke grows it will become a wholly sustainable business.
