24 HOURS IN EUNGELLA ๐๐ฟ
Sometimes you donโt need to go very far to feel like youโve properly escaped.
We snuck away for 24 hours in Eungella for our third wedding anniversary. Although after 13 years together, the โmarried for threeโ part is really just a technicality. ๐ We were never in much of a hurry to put a ring on it. We both knew a very long time ago that neither of us was going anywhere.
Naturally, no road trip begins without caffeine, so our first stop was one of our favourites, The Deli Nook, for coffee and a beautiful ready-made cheese platter to take with us.
From there we wandered the grounds and stepped back in time with a tour at Greenmount Homestead, before heading up the range to Eungella Dam. And seriously... what a spot. ๐ Weโve already mentally added camping there to the list.
Then it was on to Eungella Cabins, where the beautiful Vee had left us the sweetest anniversary surprise, complete with rose petals leading through our cabin. ๐
Late afternoon meant a trip to Broken River to spot some platypuses. There were plenty! At least seven, which was far more than we expected, and they were much smaller than weโd imagined.
Dinner was just a wander down the path to The Eungella Chalet, with that spectacular view and a really good meal, before heading back to our cabin, building our own fire and settling in for the night.
We finished the day sitting by the fire with a coffee, talking about the last 13 years, the ridiculous amount of life weโve managed to cram into them, and where we want the next few to take us. ๐ฅ๐ฅ
No fancy anniversary presents. Just 24 hours away together, some beautiful places practically in our own backyard, plenty of platypuses, and a reminder that we really do live in a pretty darn special part of the world. ๐๐ฟ
Eungella, you were exactly what we needed. ๐
