Walk through a Margaret River vineyard in winter and you might think everything’s asleep. Look closer, there’s a lot going on. 🍇❄️

🌱 Between the rows, cover crops like clover and vetch aren’t just sitting pretty. Their roots are teaming up with soil bacteria to pull nitrogen straight from the air and feed it back into the ground: free fertiliser, no chemicals required. Our Mediterranean winters (cool, wet, mild) are actually prime growing season for them, unlike the vines themselves.

✂️ Meanwhile the vines are getting their annual haircut. Pruning now shapes next vintage before it’s even budded. Every cut is a decision about how much fruit the vine will carry come summer.

🐑 And keeping the grass down between vineyard blocks? That’s a job for the sheep. Living lawnmowers, doing double duty as w**d control and (eventually) a bit of natural fertiliser of their own.

Dormant on the surface, busy underneath, that’s winter in the vines. This is one of my favourite times to bring guests through the region; the vineyards are quiet, the light is beautiful, and you get some of the best experiences engaging with cellar door staffs!

Winter in Margaret River just got a whole lot better. 🔥

Cabin Fever is back for its 10th year (17 to 26 July) and this year’s program is the biggest yet. Fire-lit dinners, live music, truffle hunts, long lunches, winemaker experiences… there’s something on every night across the region, from Busselton to Yallingup to Margaret River town.

If you need private transport to any of the events (door to door, no designated driver stress) send us a DM and we’ll sort it out. 🥂

Winter in Margaret River has a way of slowing everything down.

A fire, two glasses, and a bottle of Cherubino Cabernet Sauvignon. No agenda, nowhere to be. These are the moments worth chasing. 🔥🍷
Some things don’t need to be complicated.

My very first taste of Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon was at an International Cabernet tasting organised by Cape Mentelle, back when I’d just started working there.

One of the handful of wines in my life that genuinely stopped me in my tracks. That intensity of fruit, its purity, and then this perfectly integrated structure and tannin that just made everything feel inevitable. I remember thinking: this is what new world Cabernet can be.

Fast forward to now, and I’m bringing guests through Moss Wood’s winery on private tours, hearing the stories behind the philosophy, walking the property, understanding why these wines taste the way they do. Suddenly it all clicks.
If you’ve ever wanted to understand what makes Margaret River Cabernet truly special, this is where it begins. 🍷

When I started Bonjour Margaret River earlier this year, I had no idea how quickly it would feel real. But watching it come to life, tour by tour, guest by guest, has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

These reviews mean everything to me. Not just because they help the business grow, but because they tell me that what I set out to do (share my genuine love for this region, its wines, and its stories)is actually landing with people.

Sixteen years in Margaret River. Twelve of them at Cape Mentelle. Every tour I lead draws on all of it, and knowing that guests feel that difference makes every early morning and late night worth it.

If you’ve taken a tour with me this year, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🙏🍷
And if you’ve been thinking about booking, there’s no better time. The region is stunning right now and I’d love to show you why I never left.

The WSL Margaret River Pro 2026 is live and the region is putting on a show. A few hundred meters across the channel, someone’s quietly threading barrels at the Box like it’s any other Tuesday. That’s Margaret River in a nutshell, the world’s best in the spotlight, and something just as raw happening right next door.

Comp off tomorrow? The region doesn’t stop. Private half-day and full day-wine tours run all week — link in bio to book.
