There’s a little restaurant on a corner in Aldinga that we’ve ridden past more times than we can count.
From the outside, The Little Rickshaw doesn’t give much away. But inside, there’s some seriously good cooking going on.
We went back last night for another wonderful dinner, with a menu that took us from kingfish sashimi with tom kha and finger lime, through sour-honey charred noodles and Vietnamese duck à l’orange, to blackcurrant and kalamansi sorbet with pink pepper ganache and Thai basil.
It’s inventive, full of flavour and occasionally surprising — exactly the sort of food that makes an evening memorable.
With the MICHELIN Guide arriving in South Australia, there’s plenty of conversation about our state’s food scene. And while the spotlight will inevitably fall on some of the bigger names, we reckon it’s worth celebrating the smaller, independent restaurants doing remarkable things in our own backyard.
The Little Rickshaw is one of those places.
And for a little local connection, it’s just near the turn onto the bike path linking Aldinga with the Coast to Vines Trail. A corner we know very well, although we’re usually passing through on two wheels rather than settling in for dinner.
A word of advice: book ahead!
