Ask any of our 2026 Emerging Leaders what the scariest part of the program was. Most will say the last day!

Yesterday, 16 of our Journey Makers presented their leadership development to a room packed with 50+ senior leaders. A big thank you to Athena Leadership Academy and everyone who helped make the program possible.

Over the past few months, we’ve been welcoming the newest group of Locomotive Engineers to our Transdev Wellington heavy rail operations. Like Journey Makers at Transdev worldwide, they come to us from a huge range of prior experience.

What they have in common is a drive to keep Wellington moving and a willingness to be put through the paces. Becoming a Locomotive Engineer isn’t an overnight thing – it takes months of intensive practice, theory and assessments before ever stepping behind the controls independently.

Just ask some of our recently qualified engineers – like Lennox, embracing a completely new career; Vanessa, stepping up from her Train Manager role; or Elyse, following in filial footsteps, they’re all exemplars of the same spirit you’ll see in our people the world over.

Congratulations to these trainees and everyone who’s completed (or is about to) this first step in a long, rewarding career in transport. We can’t wait to see where this road (or the tracks, as the case may be) will take you.

Last month, we had the opportunity to support the talented students at UNSW's Empowering Excellence showcase.

What stood out wasn't just the quality of their work, but the confidence and pride behind it. It was a reminder that the next generation of engineers is already tackling big ideas and ready to make an impact.

A big thank you to UNSW, UNSW Engineering and UNSW Women In Engineering Society for inviting us to be part of events like these. We look forward to seeing where these talented students go next.

If you were riding Sydney Light Rail last Tuesday or Friday, you might've Met a Manager without realising it. Our leaders were out at stops asking customers about their trip and what we could be do better. This Melbourne-built beauty marks the first new tram design in a decade, supported by input from passengers, drivers and disability advocates.
