Fun fact: tram track doesn’t last forever. Eventually, the rails and the materials around them need a bit of TLC. That’s where track renewal comes in – and on a network as big as Melbourne’s, it’s a serious engineering job.

Usually, that old material is landfill. Yarra Trams and Fulton Hogan decided to try something else: pull it up, work out what could be reused and put it straight back to work.

They called it the Circular Economy Within Track Renewals project, and it just won Best Environmental and Sustainability Initiative at the 2026 Global Light Rail Awards in London. Congratulations, team!

In 2006, Sydney’s Route 333 asked customers to do something unusual: buy a ticket before getting on the bus. It was the first cashless bus route in Australia. With no fares to handle at the door, boarding got faster and the idea helped shape the cashless network Sydney rides today.

As Route 333 celebrates 20 years, we want to share our thanks with Transport for NSW, to the customers who use it and most of all to our Transdev John Holland Buses Journey Makers, who keep the route moving every day.

Ain’t she a beaut? 🚌 That was our reaction to seeing more than 70 buses gathered at Sydney Busfest 2026.

From classic vehicles that have shaped Sydney’s streets to the buses moving people today, it was a great opportunity to celebrate the history, evolution and enduring role of Sydney’s bus network.

A pleasure to be writing our own page in that history as Transdev John Holland Buses and join other operators doing the same. Thanks, Sydney Bus Museum!

Ask any of our 2026 Emerging Leaders what the scariest part of the program was. Most will say the last day!

Yesterday, 16 of our Journey Makers presented their leadership development to a room packed with 50+ senior leaders. A big thank you to Athena Leadership Academy and everyone who helped make the program possible.

Over the past few months, we’ve been welcoming the newest group of Locomotive Engineers to our Transdev Wellington heavy rail operations. Like Journey Makers at Transdev worldwide, they come to us from a huge range of prior experience.

What they have in common is a drive to keep Wellington moving and a willingness to be put through the paces. Becoming a Locomotive Engineer isn’t an overnight thing – it takes months of intensive practice, theory and assessments before ever stepping behind the controls independently.

Just ask some of our recently qualified engineers – like Lennox, embracing a completely new career; Vanessa, stepping up from her Train Manager role; or Elyse, following in filial footsteps, they’re all exemplars of the same spirit you’ll see in our people the world over.

Congratulations to these trainees and everyone who’s completed (or is about to) this first step in a long, rewarding career in transport. We can’t wait to see where this road (or the tracks, as the case may be) will take you.

Earlier this year, we bid farewell to Grant Hinton, who hung up the final of the many hats he’s worn across a 34-year career in the rail industry.

Journey Makers from across our Transdev Wellington heavy rail operations gathered to thank Grant for his commitment, professionalism and friendship. Please join us in celebrating an incredible career, in thanking Grant and wishing him and his wife Tracey every happiness in the next chapter.
