✈️ EUROPE TRAVEL – IMPORTANT UPDATE

If you're planning a trip to Europe in the future, please be aware of an important upcoming change.

With the introduction of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), visa-exempt travellers, including Australian and New Zealand passport holders, will be required to obtain travel authorisation before travelling to participating European countries. As part of this process, it has also been highlighted that travellers who are citizens of an EU country—or who may be entitled to dual citizenship through their family heritage, even if they have never formally applied for it—are generally expected to travel using the passport of their EU country of citizenship, rather than an Australian or New Zealand passport.

Obtaining an EU passport can take several months, so if you believe this may apply to you, now is a good time to:

Confirm whether you hold, or are entitled to, dual citizenship.
Check that any existing European passport is current and valid.
Begin the application process for your EU passport if required.

Taking these steps well in advance will help minimise the risk of delays or disruptions to your future travel plans.

At this stage, no official implementation date has been confirmed. ETIAS is currently expected to be introduced during the last quarter of 2026, and it is anticipated that a transition or grace period may apply.

As more information becomes available, including the official implementation date, I'll keep you updated.

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is due to be implemented toward the end of 2026. Once implemented, travellers visiting any of the 30 participating European countries visa-free will need to get an ETIAS travel authorisation. The ETIAS is different to the European Entry/Exit System (EES).

Dual citizens of participating European countries or Ireland will not be eligible for an ETIAS travel authorisation. If you’re a dual citizen, once the system is implemented you will not be able to enter any participating countries using your Australian passport. You will have to enter using the passport from your other country of citizenship.

If you don’t have a passport from your other country of citizenship, apply for one soon. Application wait times in some countries can be very long.

We're heading down under! 🌏🦘 That's right, from October 2026 you can fly to Melbourne via Bangkok with Finnair.* Located on the southeastern coast, Melbourne proudly holds the title of Australia’s cultural capital, thanks to its vibrant food scene, arts and world-class sports. We couldn't be more excited! 💙

I have been lucky enough to experience Aurora Expeditions newest ship - Douglas Mawson on her maiden expedition around Tasmania
An amazing small ship with around 120 passengers we have been lucky to see Tassie from a different point of view.
Weather conditions have been tough but we managed to make the most of our opportunities-this is what Expedition Cruising is all about.
If you want more information leave me a comment below or DM me. More pictures & adventure to follow.
