The Vic Government has advised that notification and approval of a change of business activity is no longer required for subclass 188 visa holders.

This change also applies to subclass 163, 164 and 165 provisional visa holders.

The change does not apply to the Business Talent (subclass 132) visa - Significant Business History stream. It is still a condition of Victorian nomination for the 132 visa that any proposed change of business activity within the first 24 months of arrival must be approved by the Victorian Government.

The Vic Government also advises that visa holders should understand the subclass 188 visa - Business Innovation stream nomination conditions and the subclass 888 - Business Innovation stream nomination assessment criteria to ensure eligibility for permanent residence.

In particular, it is important to be aware of business exclusions, including small scale property development, small scale freight forwarding and warehousing, commodity and scrap metal export, and passive investment.
