Saturday 23 May marks World Boating Day🚤. With this year’s campaign themed , we‘re running a photo competition to see what floats Victorian’s boats.

Better Boating Victoria is keen to see pics that show boaters launching from Victoria’s boat ramps and enjoying our coastal and inland waterways.

In the comment section, post a pic of your boat in a scenic location that showcases one of Victoria’s many beautiful rivers, lakes, or coastal waters (bonus if it includes a boat ramp!) with the location, and the images with the most likes win.
Prizes will be awarded to the best coastal boating and inland boating pics, with each winning contributor taking home a $100 voucher to a boating, tackle, or outdoor store of their choice.

Entries are now open and close 5pm Thursday 21 May. The winner will be announced on Friday 22 May in time for on Saturday.

Behind every great day on the water is confidence at the helm 🚤

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the growing role women are playing across boating, whether as customers, crew, skippers or working within the industry.

As an industry, continuing to create a welcoming and accessible environment helps support participation and strengthens the future of boating for everyone.

Happy Mother’s Day 💙

Upcoming Better Boating Victoria and Women in Recreational Fishing & Boating Network free reversing clinics! Book now!

We’ve got two of our popular boating clinics coming up soon - Queenscliff on Saturday the 16th of May and Limeburners, Geelong on Sunday the 17th of May.

Both clinics are free and open to all genders. The Queenscliff clinic will provide an opportunity for participants to obtain their boat licence and improve their boating skills.

The clinic at Limeburners will include a boat trailer reversing clinic and a boating information session.

The clinics are made possible through the Victorian Government’s Better Boating Fund, which reinvests boaters’ licence and registration fees into improved facilities and programs for recreational boaters across the state.

Victoria’s boom in boat ramp construction reaches Mornington next week with the start of work on an upgrade to the Schnapper Point boat ramp.

The upgrade is backed by the Victorian Government’s Better Boating Fund which reinvests boaters’ licence and registration fees into improved facilities for the state’s boat owners.

This project at Mornington means more than $173 million has been invested by the Victorian Government since 2021 to construct or upgrade more than 70 boat ramps, with a further 35 currently in the pipeline.

The work at Schnapper Point, Mornington includes:
· installation of a new finger jetty to provide more space to tie up and better access to boats,
· construction of a wider boat ramp to increase capacity; and,
· construction of a new concrete manoeuvring area and pedestrian shared area to make using the carpark safer and easier.

The existing boat ramp at Schnapper Point will be closed from Monday and will be back open in October, ready for the beginning of snapper season.

Nearby boat ramps that are open include Fishermans Beach boat ramp (Mornington), Kananook Creek (Frankston), Oliver’s Hill (Frankston), and Safety Beach.
