Celebrating a Milestone! Happy 80th Birthday, Cyril!

On Friday, our Melbourne team came together to honour our incredible co-founder (and absolute legend), Cyril, who turned 80 last week!
Cyril started SSG over 30 years ago, and his dedication, passion, humour, and leadership continue to inspire us every day.

Staff from our branches around Australia joined in with heartfelt video messages, sharing their love, birthday wishes, and appreciation for Cyril's enduring legacy. We enjoyed an amazing spread of burgers and burrito bowls, and of course, there was a memorable cake featuring Cyril himself (and a little bit more hair!)

Thank you, Cyril, for everything you’ve done to make SSG what it is today. Here's to many more years of inspiration, inappropriate behaviour, laughs and success!

In April, the WA team exhibited at ‘The Mack Muster show’.

The event is one of the biggest exhibitions in Perth showcasing the most comprehensive range of trucks, equipment, accessories and technology in Australia.

The two-day event saw over 8,000 people attend with over 330 trucks on display and was the perfect opportunity for our team to meet/greet new and current customers and mingle with Truck enthusiasts.

It’s almost been a year in the making, but finally in March this year our Service Manager Daniel Hynds & Sales Manager Luke Walsh from our Whiting Department made the journey to visit , Darwin NT to retrofit a standard 20ft re**er container with an automated K-32 roller door.

This prototype visualized by Filthy, Managing Director at TTS, enables the operator easy access to the 20ft container. With the simple push of an auxillary button, the K32 is opened or closed by an integrated automated Actuall Door Lift powered with a solar panel and battery charging pack.

The set up will be used amongst outback communities in very remote areas of the NT.

The operation was a huge success with our customer who is thrilled with the outcome and eager to deploy more converted containers in the NT.

Today marked a sad day for SSG. After 25 years with SSG, Jeff Aiken has decided to hang up the boots and retire.

Jeff has been in the transport industry for over 40 years and we were very fortunate that he joined us back in 1995. His practical and technical knowledge has contributed positively to SSG as we had access to his many talents. From Operations to Parts to Sales, Jeff has worked in almost every division and been instrumental in the inception of our new warehouse, Anteo, Whiting and Joloda.

Thank you Jeff, for your hard work, leadership, support and friendship throughout the years. We are all very sad to say “see ya later mate” and we wish you all the very best as you embark on this next chapter of your life, travelling around Australia with Di and spending more time with your children and grandchildren.

In recognition of International Women’s Day, SSG branches across Australia came together to celebrate the achievements of the wonderful women in our workplace. To mark the occasion, everyone did their best to wear an item with purple (as you can see some could be slightly colour blind!) and as morning tea was served, the appreciation exchanged, very quickly followed by the banter and laughs!

Taking the time to recognise the significant contribution of Woman in both white and blue-collar roles at SSG is important to our business. SSG really appreciates the continued dedication, professionalism, and amazing personalities our woman bring to the SSG family.
