🚜 Farm vs Commercial Registration Reminder 🚛

Ask yourself one simple question:

👉 Did I get paid by someone else to move their livestock on my truck?

If the answer is YES, you should ensure your vehicle is registered under the appropriate commercial registration class.

If the answer is NO, and you only transport your own livestock for your own farming purposes, then farm registration may be appropriate.

As businesses evolve, the way trucks are used can change over time. What may have started as a vehicle used solely for farm activities can gradually become involved in commercial transport operations.

It is important to remember that operating a vehicle outside the conditions of its registration can result in significant penalties and fines.

The LRTAQ has long advocated for a fair and level playing field across the livestock and rural transport industry. Operators who invest in doing the right thing and meeting their regulatory obligations should not be placed at a disadvantage by those operating outside the rules.

This post is not about pointing fingers. It is simply a reminder to review your circumstances and make sure your registration accurately reflects how your vehicle is being used today.

✅ Is your registration still appropriate?
✅ Are you protecting your business from unnecessary penalties?

A quick review today could prevent a costly mistake tomorrow.

Livestock Truck Driver Wanted

M K Moffatt Transport is looking for a casual livestock truck driver to join our family-run business based on the Western Downs.

We specialise in livestock transport, including stud cattle, bull sale work, saleyard deliveries and general cattle movements throughout Queensland and northern NSW.

We’re looking for someone who:

* Holds a current HC licence
* Has livestock handling experience and is confident working around cattle
* Takes pride in their work and equipment
* Is reliable, punctual and well presented
* Can work independently and communicate well with clients
* Is flexible, as hours will vary depending on our workload

What we offer:

* Modern, well-maintained equipment
* A supportive, family-run business where your work is appreciated
* Variety of work including local and interstate livestock transport

Livestock transport experience is preferred, but we’re happy to talk with drivers who have a great attitude and are keen to learn.

I would like to take this time to say I hope everyone has a lovely Easter and maybe even getting a little time with the kids home from boarding school or Grandies on School holidays.
We had a bit of time off over Easter for a friend’s daughter’s wedding and a quick trip out for a fish then caught up with some family last night.

Didn’t have much luck on the fishing side of things, but it was good to slow down for a minute and enjoy a bit of quiet time.

Back into it now with plenty happening and trucks rolling again this week.

Truck Wash Day

Not every day is spent on the road.

In between loads it’s a good chance to wash down and keep the gear in good order.

It’s all part of the job — keeping things clean, maintained and ready to go for the next run.

We are busy early in the week with saleyard work, and usually have a bit more room mid-week if cattle need shifting.

What a great weekend at the Backroads & Beats fundraiser at Noonga.
It was good to see so many people come together to support The York Family from Cassa Toro Simmental — We are so blessed to live in communities like this.
We were lucky enough to be involved sponsoring the inflatable horse races and donated a few prizes for the day.
I engraved the stubby coolers which turned out fantastic — “I saddled up for a good cause” seemed to suit the day.
It was a fantastic weekend for everyone involved and that it raised plenty for a great cause keep up the great work Noonga committee.
Zoe keep your chin up we can't wait for you to be home.

Another day on the road doing what we enjoy.

There’s plenty of early starts and kilometres behind livestock transport, but it’s a job we genuinely enjoy — working with good cattle and good people around the district.

We’ve been lucky to work with some great producers and agents over the years and we appreciate the support.
