“An entertaining, challenging and dangerous affair for the unprepared.”
Race to the Rock: Melbourne to Uluru. For Scott, it was 3,141 km, solo and unsupported. Scott made it, with Kayleigh in the 76 series as backup! Race to the Rock

Want to read more, read Kayleigh's recount of their adventure:
"When my partner Scott entered the 2026 Race to the Rock and I decided to make the trip to pick him up the search for a suitable bike rack began for this and future adventures.

We needed the bike rack to be solid as I wanted to explore Australia on my way to the finish line of the Race which included a lot of off road and rough roads. I also needed to be able to access the back of our 76 Series Landcruiser to access the fridge and oven, which I was able to do easily, multiple times a day.

Scott headed off from Melbourne on Saturday 5 September 2026 at 6:22am.

An excerpt from the race organisers explain the race as:

This year's course is another entertaining, challenging and dangerous affair for the unprepared. Expect a rugged few hundred kilometres early on along the full Goldfields Track and adjoining trails before a blast along the mighty Murray River and a commute through remote stations to arguably the best sections of the Mawson Trail near Ikara. Heading north from there you will experience some of our favourite famous and lonely outback thoroughfares on the way to Uluru. As always, to the ride the route safely careful logistical planning is necessary - you must know precisely where you will find food and water along the way.

During Scott’s race with around 1,000km to go Scott experienced a front hub failure on his bike due to the extremely rough terrain and multiple water crossings. After discussion he decided Scott continue to nurse the front wheel and take it a day at a time, but Scott didn’t expect the bike would make it to the finish line.

I decided to push inland into the extreme remoteness of the Aussie outback, as a back up to recover him if the hub totally failed. Many sections included 300+ km without access to water or food in extreme heat / weather conditions.

I tried to be around 200km away from him in case of failure, which meant I took the car / bike rack into extreme off road conditions and fully tested the capabilities of the rack. Scott was able to keep in touch with me through his Garmin In reach GPS device and I could watch his progress on MapProgress to dot watch and know where he was at any time and confirm he was still moving.

After 3,141km Scott and his beat up bike made it to the finish line in 6th place after 20 days, 7 hours, 49 minutes and 39 seconds.

Thank you again for helping choose the correct rack for our car and your willingness to get it out to us asap before the start of the race as we ordered last minute. "

We're so glad to have been able to help Kayleigh and Scott with their inspiring adventure!

Introducing the new iSi bolt-on mount, debuting on the all-new Opus Expedition. Available now with our 2 and 4 bike carriers.

We've been working on this one for a while. Seeing it launch on a van as good as the Expedition makes it pretty special.

Come and see them both at Melbourne Leisurefest. Opus stand C43, Sandown Racecourse. Open 9am to 4pm until Sunday.

Made in Mitcham. Built to go everywhere the Expedition does.

At ISI we are proud to build equipment that stands up to the real world. Nothing tests a product quite like the remote tracks of Australia and few customers put their gear through more demanding use than Wayne and his trusty travel companion Tucker.

We are grateful for customers like Wayne who trust Australian engineering when it matters. Stories like this remind us why we design every ISI system with strength, service life and real off road durability in mind.

Thank you Wayne for the generous feedback and safe travels up north!

One of Victoria’s most hotly anticipated trail openings is here! Having been involved in this project from day one, it’s especially pleasing for all of us here at iSi. Not only having world class trails nearby, but in seeing this project finally being built. Thank you for all your hard work Matt and everyone (you know who you are) for working so hard and overcoming every obstacle!
Tomorrow marks the soft launch of 30km of fresh trails, with a full 80km+ network still to come. How cool are these photos?! ❄️🇩🇪

Petra and Manfred shared some kind words and a glimpse into their adventures from snowy Bergisches region in Germany.

“We adapted our iSi carrier to the European coupling system with a Dixon Bate mount. The system works fantastically – it's strong, easy to use and survived every adventure we’ve taken it on. People often stop us on the road or ask about it in our friend circle. We proudly tell them we bought it from iSi in Australia."
