Corfu. I am in love.
We started in Kalami, visiting The White House, once home to writer Lawrence Durrell, brother of Gerald Durrell, and closely connected with the famous Durrell family story on Corfu. Such a gorgeous spot right on the water, with so much history and charm. For anyone who has read Gerald Durrell’s My Family and Other Animals, being here really brings the stories and descriptions of Corfu.
From there we slowly made our way back across the island, taking in some of Corfu’s gorgeous beaches, villages and coastal scenery.
One of the highlights was Bella Vista at Lakones, high above Paleokastritsa, with absolutely spectacular views over the turquoise bays and dramatic coastline.
We also visited Ambelonas Estate, where we enjoyed local wine, beautiful food and a lovely taste of the Corfiot countryside.
Days like this are exactly why I love exploring destinations before bringing our groups finding the special places, the beautiful views and the experiences that make a trip memorable.
Corfu is definitely somewhere I want to include in our 2028 escorted Greece group.
A little history, spectacular scenery, local food and wine… I think our travellers are going to love this island.
