Morgan Transport Group is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our growing team in Townsville.

We operate a diverse fleet across refrigerated, general freight and linehaul operations, and we are looking for a reliable, safety-focused mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment roadworthy, compliant and operating efficiently.

Your duties will include:
- Servicing, maintenance and repairs to heavy vehicles and trailers
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Conducting inspections and preventative maintenance
- Attending breakdowns and urgent repair work where required
- Completing workshop paperwork and maintenance records accurately
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area
- Working with the operations team to minimise downtime and keep fleet availability high

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or similar
- Experience working on heavy vehicles, trailers and fleet equipment
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good understanding of heavy vehicle safety and compliance requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail
- HR licence preferred, but not essential
- Forklift ticket, welding or fabrication experience highly regarded

• Midnight run from Malanda
• Monday to Friday Milk run (on one week)
• Linehaul and store deliveries to Woolworths stores (on opposite week)

You’ll oversee 4–5 loaders and coordinate with 8–9 drivers each shift, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. This role suits a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced, operational setting and isn’t afraid to be on the floor when needed.
