Seen here is some archival footage taken by NBN Television in 1999, gathering footage for local television advertisements and news reports regarding the new legislation regarding school lights to be added to the front and back of all buses around the state in 1999.

In 1992, Newcastle bus drivers took out extensive industrial action against a new poor and cost-cutting workplace reform package, which was approved by their Sydney counterparts; but wasn't received so well up in Newcastle. How different is this scene compared to nowadays.. you won't ever see a high floor Mercedes government bus in revenue service heading along Hunter St in Newcastle anymore.

Taylor's Transit has been restoring buses for a number of years, and now we have now started helping other preservationists in the transport restoration scene with their projects.

Recently, well-known Sydney preservationist Josh Power brought his 1996 Scania L113CRL (3700) to the TTA team that know the Ansair produced buses like the back of their hand; and we have put many hours of effort into this bus, and the finished product looks fantastic. 3700 looking the part now with a full body respray back into the STA Corporate V1, and the trusty guidance of our original Ansair production procedures, design and quality control resources readily available at our fingertips, this old Scania certainly looks like it just rolled off the production floor at Ansair's Tamworth factory back in '96.

This will be one of the many buses on display at Busfest 2026 this coming weekend.

Our preservation updates have dried up as of recent, but as the saying goes "Good things come in time", and today we can announce our contenders for Busfest 2026!

Two of our members, Tony and Daniel, have done an excellent job restoring their O305G bendy buses in time for Busfest. 2554 and 2575 will be proudly on display at Busfest 2026 next weekend! A big hats off to them both for their efforts bringing up these wonderful old buses back into in-service condition.

To keep the tradition alive with the long vehicles, TTA will also be bringing 14.5m Scania 3444, bringing the long boys to the big smoke next weekend. We look forward to seeing you there!

In the recent news of the passing of Len Regan, the general manager of Newcastle Buses throughout the bygone decades, we thought it'd be appropriate to turn back our clocks yet again to the late 80s, when the introduction of the Newcastle Buses Party Bus hirings service was put on by the State Transit Authority, another branch of their charter service offerrings at the time. Len was involved with setting this service up in Newcastle at the time, Len's strong expertise and knowledge in the transport sector certainly won't go to waste. It was understood last week Len passed away. May he rest in peace.

Turning the clocks back to June 1992, when western Lake Macquarie based company Sugar Valley Coachlines was in hot water with local residents near their depot, about buses traversing quiet residential backstreets in Edgeworth late at night/early in the morning.

Turning back the clocks to February 1987, the Urban Transit Authority in Newcastle was introducing the new route 238 from Charlestown to Newcastle University. The service was introduced for uni students to commute to the university from lakeside areas around Lake Macquarie. Mercedes Benz O305 PMC MkIV 2980 is seen featured with its classic MetroTen machines, performing the first service as seen below.

Thanks for having us Dubbo!

TTA would like to thank everyone who came up to our exhibit at Dubbo this weekend and said g’day, took photos and had a look at 3444!

For now, its a long trip home for 3444 along the Golden Highway back to our depot. Seen below is 3444 approaching Cassilis on the Golden Highway, with 250km to go.

The below clip gives off delivery run vibes, from back in 1993 when the fifty 14.5m Scania L113TRBLs were driven from Ansair’s Tullamarine and Tamworth bus manufacturing factories once complete, to Sydney to begin service with the State Transit Authority of NSW. 33 years later, it’s satisfying seeing one of these old workhorses traversing country roads yet again, I’m sure 3444 wishes it was its delivery run all over again…

3444 has departed our depot early this morning for the Truck, Bus and Quilt Show at Dubbo this weekend.

Half way into the roadtrip, 3444 is seen here departing the Cassilis Park Rest Stop, 145km out from Dubbo.

Come on down and say g’day to the TTA team!
