Support work is deeply human, and caring for others begins with understanding ourselves. 💙

Taking time to reflect allows support workers to process experiences, strengthen emotional awareness, and remain grounded in the care they provide each day.

When support workers are encouraged to pause, reflect, and reconnect with purpose, it helps create more compassionate, thoughtful, and person-centred support for participants.

Because meaningful care grows through self-awareness. 🌿

Some people don’t come into support services feeling hopeful 😟

They come in exhausted. Guarded. Unsure if this time will be any different.

🔴 Maybe they’ve been ignored before.
🔴 Maybe promises were made and never followed through.
🔴 Maybe they’ve had support workers come and go so often that trusting someone new feels impossible.

And honestly? That makes sense.

When someone has been let down repeatedly, trust doesn’t happen because we say the right words. It doesn’t happen because we introduce ourselves well, or because we promise we care.

Trust is built slowly.

⭐ You don’t rush it.
⭐ You show up. Again and again.
⭐ You listen more than you speak.
⭐ You do what you say you’ll do.
⭐ You respect their pace, not yours.

Sometimes building trust looks small from the outside.

💙 Remembering how they like their routine done.
💙 Giving them space on difficult days.
💙 Turning up on time.
💙 Following through on a commitment.
💙 Sitting in silence when words are hard.

But those moments matter more than people realise.

Because for many participants, consistency is safety. Patience is respect. And being truly heard can change the way someone feels about accepting support altogether.

Good support work isn’t about control. It’s about creating an environment where someone feels safe enough to be themselves, make choices, and move at a pace that feels right for them.

That kind of trust isn’t built overnight. It’s built over days, weeks, and months of showing genuine care through actions, not just words.

Trust isn’t given. It’s earned in moments like these 💙

Last week we celebrated Kristin's 1 year Anniversary as part of the team here at Advanced Support Services. 💙

Kristin plays such an important role in keeping our services running smoothly, ensuring supports are organised for our clients and making sure our support workers are where they need to be. Her dedication and organisation help ensure our clients continue to receive the quality care and support they deserve.

She also works hard behind the scenes to ensure our support workers remain compliant and supported in their roles, while continuing to look after both our support workers and office staff with compassion, understanding, and professionalism.

Rostering, coordination, compliance, and supporting staff is no small task, but Kristin handles it all with care and commitment. Her work makes a positive difference to both our team and the people we support every day.

Thank you, Kristin, for all that you do for our clients, our staff, and our organisation. Your efforts are genuinely appreciated, and we are so grateful to have you as part of the team. 💙👏

Gratitude & Reflection 💙

As we near the end of the month, we take a moment to pause and reflect on the strength of our community.

To our participants, families, and support workers - thank you! Every day, we see the value of connection, encouragement, and shared effort in building meaningful lives.

For many people accessing NDIS supports, progress isn’t just about big milestone - it’s about the everyday moments: a conversation, a community visit, a new skill learned, or simply feeling supported.

We’re grateful to be part of that journey.

💫 Today, we encourage you to take a moment to appreciate someone in your community who has made a difference in your life.

In the NDIS space growth doesn’t look the same for everyone. 🤓

For some it’s building daily living skills. 🍳

For others it’s gaining confidence, independence, or working toward personal goals. 🏋️‍♂️

We’re taking a moment to reflect with gratitude on those journeys - the small steps, the effort behind them, and the progress that’s made along the way.

Because when we slow down and notice it growth is always there. 🌱

💜 Epilepsy Awareness 💜

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects how the brain works, and it can cause recurring seizures. It’s more common than many people realise, and every person’s experience is different.

Understanding epilepsy helps provide safer, more compassionate care.

Here are a few important reminders:

✨ Stay calm and ensure the person is safe during a seizure
✨ Do not restrain them or put anything in their mouth
✨ Time the seizure and follow their individual support plan
✨ Stay with them until they are fully recovered

Living with epilepsy can be challenging, but with the right support, individuals can lead full and meaningful lives.

Let’s continue to build awareness, reduce stigma, and support those living with epilepsy every day 💜
