Police are calling for dashcam footage after a four-vehicle crash was caused by a cattle truck rear-ending a paper recycling truck into two other vehicles on the Warrego Highway’s Oakey bypass on Friday, August 28.

One such person was recently recognised for her hard work, passion and leadership at the Darling Downs South West Region Training Awards.

Well done to Oakey State High School student Hannah Mundey, who is now off to the Queensland Training Awards State Finals in Brisbane!

The time spent in armed combat by our Vietnam War veterans was remembered in a service conducted last Tuesday afternoon (August 17) at Bicentennial Park, with an hour-long interview subsequently conducted by the Oakey RSL on YouTube with local veterans Owen ‘Mustard’ Keane, Christopher Markham and Lance ‘Boy’ Weise.

It was a succesful trip to the Ekka for Bowenville State School students who picked up ribbons in the Raising Hy-Line Hens competition. Four students with their teacher Mrs Funke raised chickens up to the age of 26 weeks before sending them to Brisbane for the Show.

And they weren't the only students who did well - Oakey State High School had their best Ekka ever (see Page 10 for full details)
