There’s nothing quite like seeing the outback come alive 🌅

We enjoyed sundowners atop the iconic Big Red, right in the heart of the Simpson Desert, during our Lake Eyre in Flood air safari. From up there, the view was something else with the base of Big Red now holding an incredible 2.8 metres of water.

It’s a powerful reminder of just how much water has flowed into this usually dry landscape. Moments like these don’t come around often… and they’re unforgettable when they do!

Lake Eyre like you’ve never seen it before! 💦

Our first Lake Eyre tour for the season has taken off and 8 lucky guests got to witness it in flood.

In flood, this vast salt lake transforms into something almost surreal, an endless canvas of colour where greens and silty browns blend like brushstrokes in a painting. Moments like this are incredibly rare, making it all the more special to witness from above. ✈

🌿✈️ We’ve officially kicked off our 2026 outback touring season in unforgettable style with our Wet Season Spectacular!

A lucky group of 8 adventurers set off to explore the Top End as it transformed from the rugged Dry into a lush, vibrant paradise. Think thundering waterfalls, waterholes, and endless greenery stretching across the landscape 🌧️

And the best part? Taking it all in from above 🚁
With heli flights and private aircraft, this was truly the ultimate way to experience the magic of the Wet season.

One guest summed it up perfectly:

Unprecedented rainfall is breathing life into Kati Thanda - Lake Eyre 🌿💧

As these photos show from 5 March to 22 March, floodwaters have been steadily moving south, transforming what was once arid salt flats into a vast, green inland oasis. It’s already remarkable and it’s only just beginning.

Water is flowing through the Lake Eyre Basin in a way we haven’t seen in years.

Surrounding regions have received double their annual rainfall in just days. Cooper Creek is running strong, Goyder Lagoon is spreading, and the lake is filling once again for the second season in a row, building on what remained from 2025.

Lake Eyre is truly coming alive. 🌏✨

In the February edition of Australian Traveller, our Wet Season Spectacular air safari was captured in one line:

“Experiencing the wet season from above is a glory in a class of its own.”

That perspective is everything.

Since 1977, we’ve been flying guests by private aircraft into Arnhem Land and the Top End by private aircraft when it’s most green and alive.

The Wet changes the country. Floodplains swell and shine. Waterfalls thunder off escarpments, rivers carve new paths overnight and from the air, you see the scale. 💦
