48 hours at Jack’s Camp, Botswana… and what a way to end our African adventure. ❤️🇧🇼

Some places leave you speechless, and Jack’s Camp was one of them.

Out in the vast, otherworldly Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, we walked alongside the San Bushmen, learning ancient traditions and a way of life deeply connected to the land. We spent time with the cheeky meerkats, watching them pop up around us, raced quad bikes across the endless salt pans, and soaked up the extraordinary wildlife and raw beauty of this remarkable place.

And then there’s the camp itself… a world of safari elegance, incredible luxury, exquisite hospitality and guides whose knowledge, passion and ability to bring this extraordinary landscape to life made every moment unforgettable.

But what made these final 48 hours so special was knowing we were coming to the end of an African journey that has filled our hearts, challenged us, surprised us and given us memories we’ll be talking about for years.

And just when we thought Africa had given us everything… there was one last surprise. 🤫

Africa, you have been extraordinary. And Jack’s Camp? What a spectacular final chapter. ✨
This is why we travel. Not just to see the world, but to feel it, experience it and carry a little piece of it home with us.

Camping in style at Jack’s Jack’s Camp

A short drive from Dukes found us at our last camp in the Okavango Delta, their sister camp Mbamba. In a similar style to Dukes it was like stepping back to a bygone era of Safaris with all the luxuries and beautifully appointed tents.

Nature sets the pace with each game drive and we enjoyed some quieter drives here with breakfast out in the open plains watching zebras and wildebeest come in to drink.

Our adventure continues now to a completely different corner of Botswana from winding waterways to the Kalihari Desert !!

Our next adventure took us deep into the Okavango Delta where we stayed at the new Duke’s Camp which is styled in lavish Persian style colors and African artifacts….it felt like we just stepped into a scene from Out of Africa.

We enjoyed an afternoon safari with lions , wild dogs and sundowner drinks with the Ellie’s and then for our morning , we swapped the safari vehicle for a boat and headed out onto the waterways for a private water safari — gliding through the Delta, surrounded by incredible scenery, hippos, elephants and plenty of bird life. There is something very special about having breakfast on the water with Ellie’s grazing only metres from our boat .

Just when we think the camps can’t get any better we arrive at our next camp !! There is something wonderfully sophisticated about Sable Alley, where understated luxury meets water lilies flowering and Ellie’s sloshing in front of our tents.
The food was so next level we forgot we were in the wilderness but then the game drives showed us otherwise . After a radio call that wild dogs were sighted on the hunt and a ferrari safari to get there in time we witnessed wild dogs surround and chase down an empala and then devour it within minutes. Watching it all unfold in front of us was both exciting and confronting but this is nature at its rawest. We also got to fly over the Delta in a helicopter ( with no doors !!) where we could see hippos and Ellie’s and the water ways that make up this incredible landscape . Another light aircraft flight landed us at Machaba Tented Camp located in the north eastern part of the Okavango Delta nestled in the game rich Kwai area. Again, our safari started the moment we left the airstrip with Ellie’s greeting us along the way and a delicious lunch for two waiting for us on arrival at camp. A beautiful intimate more traditional camp overlooking the water . We had the excitement of an ellie passing by our tent and then the very rare honey badgers for our evening game drive.

The next morning we spent several hours tracking a female leopard that lives in the area. They can be one of the hardest animals to find as they are quite shy. We found her tracks in the sand and listened for the birds who give warning sounds when predators are around . We had just about given up and then there she was perched up in a tree scouring the area for her next meal . She was magnificent
