🧡 Farewell Dear CAT 🧡
Little did I know when walking into council on the sixth of June to advocate for keeping the CAT, that I would be in for the CAT Bus ride of my life.
Ian Ker and I have worked really hard with the community, council, state and the PTA to try to KEEP THE CAT. We did the best we could. I have a heavy-heart thinking of all the community, visitors and tourists who love this unique loop bus ride so much. It has been such a big part of so many people’s lives in the Fremantle community for the past 23 years. It is so sad to unnecessarily lose a popular Fremantle icon.
Thank you to all those who came and supported us in the community meetings and council meetings. The support was amazing. It meant a lot and just showed how very special our Fremantle community is, full of passionate people who really care about their city.
Thank you to the State government for the increased 15 minute service of the 532. They have given what they can. This will cover some of the gap in public transport from 1 October with the canning of the CAT. South Fremantle wont be cut off from South Street. Our beaches and venues in Fremantle and South Fremantle can stay connected.
I still worry and hope the Council will organise to cover transport to all our marketed, beautiful, historic destinations. Let’s hope they can do so.
It will be a sad day on Saturday 30 September when the CAT does it’s last run. In the meantime, please catch and enjoy the CAT and make some memories.
Thank you again Freo.
