1 boat did the rigging correctly.
2 decided to park next to each other on the ramp so no one could get passed to retrieve their boat.
It’s painful 😣

Is it time to renovate the boat ramp?

I’m constantly hearing ā€œthis ramp is f@$kedā€, ā€œthe fenders are gone againā€, ā€œwhere are the markings for riggingā€!!!

With low tide it’s almost impossible to get the boat out and in, and there are near misses all the time.

The City of Bayswater can get a grant from the state to extend, fix and renew the ramp, but it falls on death ears.

I think it’s time for a renewal.

Let me know your thoughts.

Public Holidays and summer brings every boatie out. Most know the rules and others are oblivious to them.

If you live near by and you want some entertainment, bring a picnic and come down and watch.

Just in a couple of hours:

1. Rigging on the ramp. It would be silly to use the rigging and derigging spot.

2. Speeding. There are 4 cameras filming you and most people will drive past in over 5 knots and create large wash on the ramp.

3. Not wanting your car to be wet is one thing, but your trailer is made for launching and retrieving. Put it in the water so you don’t have to lift your boat onto it.

4. Your b**g. Don’t ever forget to do a prestart on your boat. Check the b**g #1 !!

It is bound to happen.

No ramp etiquette, ā€œI know it allā€ attitude and big boats with no training…it’s going to be a great summer season.

Bring out the popcorn cause it is pure entertainment šŸæšŸŽ¬

There’s nothing like excellent Spring weather on the weekend to stoke the nautical wiles of WA’s weekend warrior boating community. You know what they

Not too many on the jetty today. The wind is picking up here so that might have something to do with it.
But we do have onlookers who have parked in the rigging and derigging zone so keep an eye out

New safety equipment laws for recreational vessels are coming. After a 5 year review of safety equipment requirements, laws are set to become simpler and stronger to keep people safe on the water in WA.

Changes are planned to be implemented for the 2022/23 boating season including:
- Simplifying safety equipment requirements for registrable and non-registrable vessels.
- Carriage of lifejackets on all registerable vessels in all waters
- Mandatory wearing of lifejackets more than 400m from shore in unprotected waters dependant on age and vessel size
- Transitioning to GPS enabled EPIRBs and personal locator beacons
- EPIRBs or PLBs will become mandatory for all vessels more thank 400m from shore in unprotected waters
- Current rules for non-registerable vessel including paddle craft, kite surfers, sailboards and small sailing craft will remain largely unchanged.

Summer is coming and the jetty will once again be hectic.

Simple jetty etiquette to follow:

1. Rig your vessel on the left hand side of the jetty. Roof, b**g, ropes and your crew

2. Only start launching when the jetty is free and no boats are waiting to retrieve (boat in the water have the right to moor prior to you launching - safety)

3. Be as efficient has possible. There might be 7-10 boats waiting to get in and the same waiting to go out.

4. When retrieving your boat, get it on to your trailer and drive up to your left hand side and derig your vessel. Do not stop on the ramp.

5. Do not be afraid to ask for help to hold your boat, help with ropes.

6. Parking: Please stay within the lines. There are large boats that needs to squeeze through. Keep the middle lane free.

Happy boating
