⛳ EES Golf Day ⛳

Last Thursday, 21 May, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual ‘Masters of Disasters’ Golf Day at the stunning Collier Park Golf Course - once again delivered under blue skies and what we like to call EES-organised sunshine 😉

With the exceptional organisation of Jesse Chang, EES' own Operations Manager, the day ran seamlessly from start to finish. It was fantastic to see everyone bring great energy, competitive spirit, and plenty of laughs to the course.

A special shout out goes to PureOzone for taking out the best team honours, while Tyrone from ANT also deserves recognition for an equally impressive achievement - making it through the day without throwing a golf club. Those who know Tyrone will understand just how significant that is!

While we missed a few familiar faces this year, we’re already looking ahead to the next hit out. Until then, keep those swings sharp and the clubs ready. 🏌

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. Events like these are a great reminder of the importance of stepping away from the day-to-day, getting outdoors, connecting with others, and prioritising mental health - because that’s what truly matters most.

Businesses Importing into the US: Are You Eligible for IEEPA Refunds? 💰

After months of uncertainty, US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) has officially opened the process for businesses to claim back certain IEEPA duties through the ACE Portal under the new CAPE refund system.
For many importers, this could mean significant recoveries sitting on the table.
Here’s the important part: these refunds are not automatic. If you’re the Importer of Record (IOR) - or your customs broker filed on your behalf - action needs to be taken now.

What is happening?

CBP launched Phase 1 of the CAPE (Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries) refund process on April 20 through the ACE Secure Data Portal. The system is designed to process refunds for duties collected under IEEPA rulings that are now being reversed
ACE Portal Process - The refund process is being handled entirely through CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal using the new CAPE module.

A few important watchouts:

• Not every shipment qualifies yet
• Section 301 tariffs are separate and NOT part of this refund process
• Entry status matters heavily
• Documentation accuracy is critical
• There are already legal discussions around whether brands must pass refunds back through supply chains or consumers

This is another reminder that customs compliance, importer structure, and record keeping are no longer “back office” functions. They are becoming major financial strategy pieces for importers navigating today’s trade environment.
For many businesses, now is the time to sit down with your customs broker, freight forwarder, and finance teams to understand exactly where your entries stand and whether refund opportunities exist.
