Quokka 1 is back on the water - and better than ever!

We are thrilled to have delivered the newly refreshed Quokka 1 to SeaLink Rottnest Island last week, just in time to serve winter travellers heading to the beautiful Rottnest Island!

Over just 10 weeks, our hardworking EMG teams and expert contractors gave the 35m ferry a complete transformation:
- Full mechanical refurbishment by Marmino Marine & Kongsberg,
- Brand new engine room lighting package by our in-house electrical team,
- New luggage crane & deck plate reinforcement,
- Waterline blasting by Precision Blasting,
- A stunning new paint job.

Next up? Quokka 3 is already in the shed at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson to receive the same treatment!

A New Era in Sustainable Superyacht Design Begins at Echo Yachts

Chris Blackwell of Echo Marine Group had the privilege of unveiling an extraordinary Echo Yachts new build—Project ASY57 (Adventure Sailing Yacht 57m)—alongside Steve Quigley of One2Three Naval Architects at last week’s ASMEX Australian Superyacht Conference.

Currently under construction, ASY57 is set to become the world’s largest sail-powered aluminium catamaran superyacht. This ambitious project brings together a visionary team of naval architects, engineers, and designers to create a truly one-of-a-kind vessel that blends adventure, luxury, and cutting-edge sustainability.

Developed with a high-performance twin-Dynarig system by Southern Spars and overall conceptual design by Dykstra Naval Architects , ASY57 combines elegant innovation with robust ocean-going capabilities. One2three Naval Architects have undertaken the detailed naval architecture and structural design, while mechanical and electrical systems are engineered in-house by Echo Yachts.

ASY57 also pioneers regenerative hybrid propulsion, enabling zero-emissions cruising under sail with engines and generators shut down—ideal for long-range, remote exploration with minimal environmental impact.

This is more than a yacht. It’s an ambitious project that reflects the vision and commitment to innovation by our client, and a bold step forward for the Australian superyacht industry’s commitment to maritime excellence.

Echo Marine Group is very proud to have received the 2025 Australian Superyacht Industry Project, Design, or Manufacturer of the Year award for the second consecutive year, this time for the extensive world-class refit project undertaken on M/Y Just B.

The M/Y Just B project included an extensive re-painting and re-powering with a new diesel-electric propulsion system, returning this magnificent superyacht to optimal finish and performance including increased speed and efficient long-range cruising capability.

The hardworking team at Echo Yachts consistently strive for excellence across all full-custom newbuild, refit and maintenance projects. It is extremely gratifying for our entire team to receive the recognition of their expertise and skill by fellow members of the Australian marine sector.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a “stand alone” role managing our payroll function. Ideally the right person will have significant experience processing a weekly manual payroll of approximately 120+ staff in MYOB.

This role will require someone with significant experience working within a manufacturing environment with manual timesheet and job coding knowledge. The role will be responsible for the end-to-end management of all payroll related functions. A strong attention to detail is essential as is a sound understanding and interpretation of the Manufacturing Award.
