Last week CEO Stewart Lammin, Group Executive People & Brand, Karen Ross and Terminal Manager, Nick Pedler were pleased to host Deputy Premier Kyam Maher to Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal (FACT).

They showcased the GatewaySA Program of Works totalling $300m that is underway at FACT, and the Outer Habor Intermodal Precinct that has a further investment of $50m.
It was a great afternoon discussing these important projects and the role we play in the economic development of the state and the wellbeing of our port communities.

After major constructions works, we are pleased to share that from the 4th of September the Klein Point Jetty will re-open from the Northern end.

The Southern end will remain closed while our berth user continues critical construction works, this is expected to take approximately 2 months.

Meet Brett!

Since starting at FACT as a general stevedore in 2012, Brett has taken on a range of roles across operations, safety, and project delivery. After becoming a crane operator in 2017 and FACT Safety Coordinator in 2023, he joined the GatewaySA project from its early days and is now Transition Lead.

In this role, Brett helps ensure the transition from project delivery to business-as-usual operations is as smooth as possible. From staff training and asset handovers to documentation, maintenance and operational changes, the focus is on making sure teams across FPH are ready for what's next.

When asked about the best part of working at FPH, Brett said it has always been the people.
“I’ve been lucky enough to start my career here surrounded by great people in operations and then transition into a project environment where the same is true. Along the way, there have been plenty of friendships and memorable moments; from long, funny night shifts and steep project learning curves to parenting war stories and some unbeatable waterfront views from the crane cabin.”

And according to Brett, the crane cabin might just be “the world’s best office.”

We were pleased to break ground last week for our Portside Connect Development.

The development will provide more than 12,000 sqm of warehouse and office space, supported by approximately 6,600 sqm of heavy-duty hardstand.

The development will support the receival, storage, bagging, blending and distribution of dry bulk commodities.

With completion targeted for 2027, it's another step forward for FPH to support South Australian supply chains.

After making its debut last year, our FPH float is returning to the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant for another trip through the streets of Adelaide.

Celebrating the important role maritime trade plays in bringing Christmas to South Australia, our Pilot boat, containers and hardworking FPH elves are getting ready to spread some festive cheer once again.

Just 89 days to go until 14 November… but who’s counting? 👀

Do you know what a Plimsoll Line is?

Also known as a Load Line, the Plimsoll Line is the marking on a ship’s hull that shows how deeply the vessel can be safely loaded.

You can recognise it by the circle with a horizontal line through its centre, accompanied by a series of lines showing safe loading levels based on factors such as the vessel’s size and cargo, season and water conditions.

The line is named after British MP Samuel Plimsoll, who campaigned against the dangerous overloading of ships. His efforts helped lead to legislation in 1876 requiring ships to carry a visible safe-loading mark.

More than a century later, the Plimsoll Line remains a simple but vital feature of maritime safety.

Sometimes it’s the simple ideas that make the biggest difference 🙌

Our Marine Services Team (MST) recently refurbished an unused shelter at Berths 18–20 into a dedicated seafarer collection point for theStella Maris Port Adelaidee service, providing a safe, central meeting location for visiting seafarers.

Delivered in-house by the team, this project highlights the wide range of skills within our team and how our people continue to find practical ways to improve safety and efficiency across our port operations.

Well done MST. 👏
