Great news from the council — the Airlie Beach Ferris Wheel will be returning to the Foreshore from May through to November 🙌

After strong community support, it’s set to light up the Foreshore again with those iconic views and a great vibe for both locals and visitors 🌴✨

🎡 It’s back, Airlie! The Airlie Beach Ferris Wheel is returning to the Foreshore - same location, from May through to November 🙌

After a successful trial and strong community support, the Ferris Wheel will once again light up the Foreshore, bringing those iconic views, family-friendly fun and a bit of extra buzz to Airlie Beach.

The feedback was clear 👇

✔️ Boosts the atmosphere and Foreshore experience
✔️ Supports local businesses and activity

As part of its use of public land, a share of profits generated by the wheel will be re-invested back in the Foreshore, helping fund ongoing improvements for the community. This is all part of building a vibrant, welcoming Foreshore that locals are proud of and visitors keep coming back to 🌴

Due to the current weather event, all flights at Whitsunday Coast Airport have been cancelled today.

Passengers who have booked transfers with Airlie Airport Bus for today do not need to travel to the airport.

Due to severe weather and rising floodwaters, the Bruce Highway access to Whitsunday Coast Airport is currently closed.

🚫 Please do not attempt to travel to the airport at this time.

As a result of the road closure, some airlines may delay or cancel flights today. All flight operations are strictly at the airline’s discretion.

✈️ If you are scheduled to travel, please check your flight status directly with your airline before making any plans to travel.

We have been advised by the airlines that all flights arriving at and departing from Whitsunday Coast Airport have been cancelled today (11 January 2026) due to the current weather conditions.

Due to the severe weather, our operations are temporarily closed today and phone service may be limited. Our team is safe and working remotely where possible.

Flights are expected to resume tomorrow, subject to airline confirmation. We will assist with transferring bookings.

📍 Route: Airlie Beach ↔ Whitsunday Coast Airport
🕒 Hours: Approx. 25–30 hours per week
📅 Start date: Position available from 5 January

💰 Award Rates:
• Weekdays: $35.26/hr
• Saturdays: $49.37/hr
• Sundays: $63.47/hr
• Public Holidays: $77.58/hr

• Safe and professional passenger transport
• Assisting customers at the airport booth
• Providing excellent customer service
• Keeping vehicles clean and presentable

✅ Requirements:
• LR licence & Driver Authorisation (DA)
