Fleeting Fox G'day! Here at Fleeting Fox, we go the extra mile for that last mile!

🚲 Tomorrow (20 March) is National Ride2School Day 💛

It’s Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel, encouraging students to ride, walk, or scoot - and build healthy habits for life.

With more children riding, everyone has a role to play in keeping our roads safe.

Here are a few tips to stay safe while riding:

✅ Wear an approved bicycle helmet that fits properly and is securely fastened.
✅ Make sure your bike has effective brakes and a bell or other warning device.
✅ Keep to the left and ride predictably.
✅ Use hand signals when turning or stopping.
✅ Share paths safely and give way to pedestrians.

🚗 Drivers: Please slow down and watch out for children on bicycles—especially in school zones during the morning peak.

Think school zones only apply during school hours? Think again 🚸 👇

The rules you need to know:

🚦School zones apply 24/7 whenever a child is present (weekends, holidays, 3pm on a Tuesday – it doesn’t matter)

🚦"Child” = anyone under 18 or a student of any age in a school uniform

🚦If they’re on the road, footpath, verge, median strip or riding a bike, the limit applies

SA is also introducing new time-based 40km/h speed limits on main roads near schools with a signalised pedestrian crossing. The first locations were installed late last year, with about 150 schools to be covered by the end of 2026. These operate between 8am-9:30am and 2pm-4pm on school days and do not replace 25km/h school zones. Keep an eye out for these!

No excuses. Drop your speed and stay alert.

If you Don't Know, Don't Go.

With the school holidays and Christmas Season upon us, it's the perfect time to invite guests to your home. But that means it's more important than ever to remember Driveway Safety.

Three children are unintentionally run over every week in Australia - mostly in the driveway of their own home. These incidents aren't limited to large or older vehicles; sedans, hatchbacks, and vehicles equipped with reversing cameras and collision avoidance technology can all feature in driveway run over incidents.

The most effective way to prevent these incidents is to Supervise, Separate, and See.

Supervise
Children may not know the danger that vehicles can pose. Supervision means more than just watching; it can also mean holding their hand or holding them close when near vehicles.
If you're the only person able to supervise and have to move a vehicle, place the child securely in the vehicle with you while you move it.

Separate
Don't let children use the driveway or other road-related areas as a play area. Instead, create safe play areas for your children by fencing off the driveway from play areas.
Make access to the driveway from the house and play areas difficult for young children by using security doors and self-closing gates.

See
The best way to know if it's safe to move a vehicle is to see that it's safe. Always walk around the vehicle before moving it, especially around the rear bumper (or front, if driving forward). Don't rely on parking sensors or a reversing camera if your vehicle has one fitted; you may not notice a small child until it is too late to stop.

Always make sure you know that your children are in a safe place and supervised before you move a vehicle. If you Don’t Know, Don’t Go.

Have you heard of a new road rule that snacking while driving is now illegal?!

Yes? It’s fake news – this is NOT a new road rule being introduced 🚫

Here’s a few red flags to look out for when reading news online 👇
⚠️ The article sounds urgent or says changes are imminent
⚠️ Photos of reputable people (like the Premier or police) are used to seem credible
⚠️ Official sources such as government, police or RAA, are not quoted
⚠️ The source webpage is not reputable and has many unrelated ads

Remember, real changes to road rules or regulations will always be announced by the government! You’ll also hear about verified updates from us.

If you’re ever unsure, you can also contact us at [email protected] or call 8202 4570.

P.S. While it’s not illegal to snack while driving, you must always be in full control of your vehicle. This rule is not new, but it could see drivers penalised if distractions such as eating while driving result in the driver not being in full control of the vehicle.

Happy New (financial) Year!

Last month, we participated in the 2025 ; 3,214 push-ups, one for each life lost to su***de in Australia in 2023. Our donations this year were split between Lifeline and Headspace Port Augusta.

Thank you to everyone who donated; we managed to raise $100 that will support both Lifeline's amazing work and the Port Augusta Headspace Centre. Did you know that just $39 can provide connection to someone during their toughest moments?

If you need someone to talk to, Lifeline is always available - call 13 11 14 for confidential, one-on-one support. Even if you're by yourself, you don't have to be alone.

26/06/2025

Take a moment to reflect on the lives lost to su***de in 2023.

You took on 3,214 push-ups in their memory.

To recognise their families and friends.

To acknowledge that mental health is something we can and must talk about openly and honestly.

Every mental health chat you have matters.

Everyone’s mental health matters.

We encourage you to embrace the push for better mental health each and every day.
