Ten years ago, our founder Joe Joesph walked out of a boardroom. The next week, he was driving a truck.

He did that for eight months straight. Invoicing at night, driving by day, building the business one run at a time. It came after 22 years in executive roles with Mars, Simplot Australia and Aussie Farmers Direct. So when Aussie Farmers Direct folded in 2018 and he decided to climb into a truck and drive, plenty of people thought he'd lost the plot.

He saw it differently. One 14-pallet truck that was running well. He sold off everything else and set himself a single marker: he'd only be disappointed if he didn't try to turn that one truck into fifty.

Today JD Refrigerated Transport runs 70+ trucks and 110+ people across Southeast Queensland.

Those early mornings behind the wheel still shape how we operate. The not knowing whether it would work. That feeling stays with a business, and it's one we haven't forgotten.

We have built JDRT around a simple choice: work with fewer clients and look after them properly.

We partner with around 30 clients across "primary and value-added meats, dairy, FMCG, pharmaceuticals and produce and our client turnover stays very low year after year. That is deliberate. We take on partnerships built for the long term, where we understand the freight, the seasonal swings, and what good service looks like for that business.

A smaller, selective book means every client gets senior attention and a team that knows their operation. When demand lifts for peak periods and around holidays, there are no strangers in the room.

Long relationships are the clearest signal of consistent delivery, and ours have been years in the making.

Winter changes the rhythm of cold chain freight across South East Queensland. Volumes shift, lead times tighten, and the margin for error on temperature gets thinner.

At JD Transport, a big part of safety is making sure people feel safe to speak up.

If a driver spots a problem, we want to hear it. If someone isn't sure about a process, we'd rather they ask than guess their way through it.
