Whilst most of the team have been hard at it putting out some top notch with around the state for a valued client this past couple of weeks, a few of us have also managed to punch out this bit of fancy track work!

A couple of before and after pics for comparison as well as a few pics of the build for your enjoyment. Sleek curves were required in both legs to make this big turnout fit into this location.

Very few contractors even handle timber turnouts these days, let alone building them from scratch and without a design drawing. What a privilege it was to build this budget friendly piece of art at the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre (SRHC) using predominantly secondhand materials.

Shout out to Jamie Hoskin and the Proturf boys for donating their time to locate a cable for us also. Much appreciated…

Weekend tinkerings ahead of a big week.

Refurbishing of a dual gauge turnout switch assembly. Replacement of a stock rail (a keen eye will notice the stock rail in the first pic from a type 30 has been transposed and utilised in this Type 39). Multiple cracks welded up in the heel chair plate, threads tapped, bolts cleaned up and the ‘new’ assembly back together bar a few bolts to be installed and tightened.

Quite blessed to be able to do this. Very old school skills, still very much handy and useful in the present day…

If anyone has any free time this week and wants to volunteer their time installing this turnout at the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre, please reach out to Matt on 0417232272!

New attachment available for both railway and non-railway works.

To assist with the safe removal of vegetation, we have recently commissioned a new grapple saw.

With 35+ trees safely cut down and stacked in well under 4 hours on it’s first day, this little beauty is sure to save a stack of time and money for our clients both inside and outside the rail corridor. The use of this attachment practically eliminates the need for people to be in the fall zone, all the while getting the job done faster and safer.

When paired up with our mulcher and one of our versatile wheeled excavators, there’s not much we can’t take of when it come’s to safely and swiftly deleting vegetation.

Give us a call today!

Since our very inception well over a decade ago, it has been a passion of ours to upskill and teach people new skills, enabling them to continue their learning pathway and subsequently better themselves into the future. Today is no different!

The two machines in the video are both powered by learners today, with a highly competent mentor overseeing the operation of each unit.

Pictured here is Jade, who’s learning the Hirail Hydrema, with Jacob in the background learning the mighty A922 Liebherr Hirail excavator…

Keep up the good work boys and girls!

Sometimes even the best laid plans go south!

The trusty Superliner disgraced herself today when the turbo decided to leave the chat abruptly.

Thankfully, through the network of reliable contacts we were back on the road with the help of Gav and his E9 powered Ultraliner and Leigh and the boys in the breakdown van from CMV Shepparton for getting us back on the road promptly!

Thankfully tomorrow is a new day!!!

The last few loads of ballast to finish off what has been another massive day of undercutting. 200m cut, ballasted and tamped with a single undercutter bar turning again today. Geocomposite installed the whole way for long lasting track stability.

Awesome accomplishment by the team, particularly in the rain and the cold.
