WANTED – INTERSTATE & LOCAL OWNER DRIVERS
FFS Transport is growing rapidly and needs to add more owner drivers to the team.
Requirements- You must have your own ABN and be GST Registered. You will be part of the FFS Transport team, however you will be sub-contracted to complete the work.
A vehicle is NOT supplied, so you will be required to have your own vehicle.
This MUST be a large LWB commercial van with a minimal internal length of 3.8mtrs, enclosed Pantech truck or curtain sider with tailgate lifter minimum 2.2 wide (with preferrable 2.4 height). Van or small truck - own trailer preferable with a minimum length of 5mtrs.
We move anything from small parcels, to motorbikes and even items that require forklifts to move. It is a condition that you are strong, fit and healthy.
Must have or willing to obtain transit insurance. (we can point you in the right direction)
What the job entails.
FFS Transport operate a little differently to other courier services and this is why our customers keep coming back. With multiple drivers across our team, we book almost anything, great or small. If you want it, we can get it to you.
Our interstate drivers leave the Brisbane and Melbourne depots on a Monday (can leave earlier if suits business plan and customers) and generally a run either north or south depending on what has been assigned to you for that week. This will have you on the road anywhere from 3-10 days.
Our local drivers are generally home every night, but occasionally will be away overnight.
We run also run outside of business hours and this enables us to complete the work in a quicker time frame and deliver/pick up for those customers that aren’t available during the day. If your customer is happy for you to do a 1am drop off, go for it. However, communication is key, and this is an absolute must to do this role.
Customers are to be notified by you a day prior, and again a few hours before arriving on the day of.
You will be collecting/delivering jobs in order of location. For instance; you may collect 3 items from the depot, collect another 2 items heading north, deliver 2 items, pick up another item, deliver another 2 items etc etc.
You will have full access to our online portal which gives you access to all the information required to complete the jobs. This also allows our customers to gauge roughly when you are due to be at the customers destination with our tracking system. (this is not live, updates when a job is marked off as collected/delivered).
You will be given full training on our portal and how and when to contact customers and also a run down of how to manage loads, to utilise each and every bit of space in the trailer/van/truck.
What we DO NOT provide.
Vehicle- you supply this yourself
Transit insurance- We can help you source this
Straps, blankets etc- We can help with this, however this is an expense that all drivers pay for
Meals, fuel, accommodation- This is paid for by you
Superannuation/Tax - As you are contracted by FFS Transport, this is something you manage on your own.
Set pay rate- You get paid for each and every job you pick up and deliver. There is an abundance of work and each week is different. It is hard to gauge what the average driver earns each week as it fluctuates. You will never be sent on a run if it is most definitely not worth it.
