There's a moment on this ride when your shoulders finally drop.
Somewhere between the creek and the climb, the noise in your head goes quiet — replaced by wind, wheels on gravel, the rustle of something moving in the reeds. You catch a glimpse of a platypus and every phone stays in every pocket, because some things you just want to watch.
Then the trees fall away and the Glass House Mountains hit you all at once — that specific kind of awe that makes you go quiet for a second before anyone speaks. Coffee afterwards, under rainforest canopy older than memory, tastes like something you earned.
You came for a bike ride. You leave with your nervous system reset, a few good stories, and a version of Maleny that doesn't show up on a map — the one you only find by slowing down enough to notice it.
