Inside the Turkish Gulet for Charter

We have noticed that many guests discover gulets for the first time when they start planning a holiday at sea, and naturally, one of their first questions is: “What is actually inside a gulet?” So, we decided to put together this guide to give you a better idea of what to expect — from the cabins and bathrooms to the decks, dining areas, amenities and everyday life on board.

8 Days | Kos – Turkey – Greek Islands – Kos luxury gulet charter itinerary

Sail beyond the usual Greek island escape and discover two countries in one unforgettable gulet journey. Departing from Kos, this 8-day cruise combines the turquoise bays and ancient ruins of Turkey’s Turquoise Coast with the distinctive character of the Dodecanese islands. From Kos to Bodrum, then Knidos to Datça, Selimiye and Bozburun, the route follows some of the most beautiful stretches of the Turkish coastline before crossing back to Greece to discover Rhodes, Panormitis, Symi, Tilos and Nisyros. Each day brings a different landscape, from secluded coves and pine-covered hills to atmospheric harbours, traditional villages and fascinating ancient sites.

When you sail between Bodrum and Marmaris, there's a beautiful little town to visit called Datça. It's a popular stop for yachts. This is what we recommend to do or see when in Datça.

10 Things to Do in and Around Town
Datça is one of those places where you don’t need a packed itinerary. The best moments are often the simplest ones - a slow breakfast, a walk by the sea, a shaded courtyard in Eski Datça, and a glass of local wine as the day comes to an end.

Here are 10 things I wouldn’t miss:
1. Walk along the Datça waterfront
Start your morning with a leisurely stroll along the sea and take in the relaxed atmosphere of the town.
2. Have a long Turkish breakfast
Take your time over fresh bread, local olives, cheese, honey, homemade jams and, of course, Datça almonds.
3. Wander through Eski Datça
Get lost among the narrow stone streets, whitewashed houses, colourful bougainvillea and charming little courtyards.
4. Look for traces of Can Yücel
The famous Turkish poet made Eski Datça his home, and his spirit is still very much part of the neighbourhood.
5. Stop for Turkish coffee in a traditional courtyard
Find a quiet café, order a coffee and simply sit for a while. No sightseeing required.
6. Browse the little shops of Eski Datça
Look for handmade ceramics, local crafts, olive oil, soaps, textiles and other small treasures to take home.
7. Taste Datça’s famous almonds
Try them fresh, roasted or in one of the delicious local almond sweets. They make a perfect little souvenir, too.
8. Take an evening walk along the sea
As the heat fades, the waterfront becomes one of the nicest places in town for a slow walk.
9. Visit a nearby vineyard
Just outside Datça, you can spend a relaxed afternoon among the vines, taste local wines and enjoy a different side of the region.
10. Have dinner by the water and slow down
Fresh fish, meze, a glass of wine and nowhere else you need to be. Perhaps the most important Datça experience of all.

Datça isn't really a place to rush through. It’s a place to linger.

Symi is one of the prettiest places to visit during on Greek Islands or combined Greek islands and Turkish Coast itinerary. Approaching the harbour at sunset is a special experience: the facades of neo-classical style houses painted in pastel shades become strikingly beautiful in the golden glow of the setting sun. Symi offers great restaurants and a vast array of shops - and not to be missed are the picture-perfect bays along the eastern side of the island.
