It’s Day 2 in Cape Town and another tour booked. Sadly we have woken to quite a rainy day and our visit to Table Mountain is looking doubtful. The tour proceeds and we will see how weather progresses. We set off with our Driver and Guide Rodney and our first stop was in BoKapp with an interesting history. We moved on with some lovely ocean views and past Haut Bay. We then crossed Chapmans Peak Drive over to Noordhoek where we made a small stop at the Farm Village. From here it was onto the most south western point in Africa the Cape of Good Hope where for a moment there was a bit of hope with a small amount of blue sky and sunshine. In the National Park we saw a number of Baboon, Ostrich and an Eland a large African Antelope. We made our way to Simon’s Town where we made our lunch stop before heading to see the African Penguins in their colony. As we made our way back into the city we were notified that Table Mountain had now opened but with no visability. We decided at that point it was not worth the trip up so we finished our tour and enjoyed a restful evening at the hotel. It would have been lovely to have had great weather but we still enjoyed the day and imagine how beautiful it would look with blue sunny skies 🇿🇦🐧🙊🦭❤️

We are in Cape Town 🇿🇦 Our arrival was on time after a long overnight flight. We arrived at our Hotel and able to access our room 🙏 and another nice upgrade 🥂We kept ourselves moving and it was off to check out the V & A Waterfront area which was great and meet up with our next travelling companions. We are meeting Deb & Laura here for our Antarctic Adventure. We also had pre booked a Ch*****ne Sunset Cruise. A good idea at the time however there was no sun let alone a set we had rough seas wind and sparkling w**e. We still had fun and returned to the dock just in time for the rain ☔️ We made our way back to the hotel for a well earned rest 🛌😴

After a short stop in Heathrow we are travelling on to Cape Town 🇿🇦 Stay tuned for more exciting adventures ✈️🧊🐧🐋🛳️

Our time in Europe has come to an end for this year. We are leaving behind wonderful memories full of stone and rock, cobblestones & steps, good food and great w**e, and the people we have shared it all with which make it special and even more memorable 🙏 We have loved every minute and we now move on to a very different part of our journey ✈️

Our 3 days in Paris have been great and wonderful to spend time with friends during our stay. Sadly it also coincided with the National day of protest in France. On the most part we were unaffected we had one dinner cancelled as it wasn’t safe for them to open. Some stupid senselessness and damage caused by others taking advantage of the day. The protestors we saw did their thing and moved on. We did many steps revisiting familiar parts of the city. We had a fabulous dinner cruise down the Seine on El Calife and 6 of us had an amazing Citroën Tour Sunday morning throughout all the areas of Paris. The cars were all about 50 years old and our drivers had a sense of adventure and humour. There was plenty of delicious French food and w**e with a couple of sneaky pastries thrown in 😋 An enjoyable time but time to move on as more adventures await 🇫🇷🥂🍷

After disembarking our river cruise we had 1 last day in Bordeaux. It was washing day so a trip to the local laundromat 🧺 was required. On to the hotel and a little bit more exploring in Bordeaux city We have now departed Bordeaux, we are on the train and Paris bound for the last few days of the European part of our adventure 🇫🇷🚄🥂

Another early hours departure this morning taking us back into Bordeaux. It’s our final day of sailing and touring as we explore Bordeaux. Hello it’s Barbara lucky we like her as a guide she is doing a few miles up and down the river 😂 We did a very small panoramic tour in the bus followed by a walking tour through the city. Our last stop for the morning was by the local food hall for a couple of tastings. Back to our boat for lunch’s an then our afternoon tour oops ….. no Barbara 😂 It was to Bassins des Lumieres which was located in an old WWII German Submarine base. The history of the building was fascinating and a great use for a Lumieres exhibition with the reflections over the water tanks however the show had just changed from a wonderful art and colour show to one about dinosaurs which sadly wasn’t for us. Back to the ship for a lovely beverage onboard on the sun deck on a beautiful sunny afternoon as we watched the hustle and bustle of bikers, walkers, runners, skateboarders and all things active go by along the promenade 🚴🏼‍♂️🚶‍♀️🏃‍♀️🛹 🍺🥂 Tonight was our final dinner onboard as we say goodbye to AMA Dolce and the wonderful new friends we have met along the way. We had a lot of fun a lot of laughs and can recommend travelling with Amawaterways 🙏⛴️ ❤️

We left Pauillac in the early hours of the morning sailing back past Bordeaux overnight on our way to Cadillac through the low stone bridge early in the morning. Today is another busy day with 2 tours morning and afternoon. It appears Barbara is everywhere and our guide again for this morning. We take a bus ride through the stunning countryside visiting a Chateau which in this case is not a w**ery but a castle. However we did still feed glass of w**e at the end 🤷‍♀️ We visit Chateau Royal de Cazeneuve. It was built in the 11th century castle and in 1572 it became the property of Henri III of Navarre. In the 17th century, the building underwent a major overhaul. The medieval castle was then transformed into a pleasant and ceremonial chateau. It has since been restored regularly. The castle still belongs to the Sabran-Pontevès family, descendants of the d'Albrets on the female side. We weren’t allowed photos inside but the grounds were lovely also. After lunch our afternoon tour was a small walking tour of Cadillac. I guess you know by now Barbara turned up again and we are becoming good friends 😂 It was a small little town but we visited Chateau Ducal de Cadillac. The surprising history of this early 17th century Chateau was it was a women’s prison and reform institution from 1818 to 1952 which was quite a sad story. We take a walk back to the boat for our evenings entertainment 🥂🍷🍽️👨🏻‍🍳💃🎶

This morning in the early hours we departed from Bourg and made our way to Pauillac in the Medoc region. We have changed sides from the right bank to the left bank of the river which is very competitive when it comes to producing w**e in the region. We take an easy morning walk this morning after a slow start as our tour does not commence until after lunch today. On this afternoons tour we are reunited with Barbara for our w**e tasting tour and visit to a local Chateau. Our drive also takes us through the beautiful French countryside passing many vineyards and Chateaus 🍷🍇 It’s back on board for yes another great dinner, w**e and more great entertainment from a local duo to dance the night away 💃🎶

We arrived in Bourg for our afternoon excursion. A walking tour of the small town of Bourg where the historic town is still living within the medieval walls. We also visit to the Horse Carriage Museum. It included another underground tunnel to see a diesel cistern from WWII. The tour ended at Maison du Vin for our AmaWaterways W**e Celebration 🍷🍷 Another fun evening another nice dinner followed by a very fun but competitive music trivia evening 🎶💃
