Experience the heartbeat of Macedonian tradition with Braga Travel! Each year on St. Peter’s Day (July 12 / Petrovden), the mountain village of Galičnik. The Miak centre on Bistra Mountain comes alive for a spectacle unlike any other in the world: the Galička Svadba.
While Galičnik today has a small population, on this sacred day, thousands of visitors and tourists ascend the mountain to witness a "once-in-a-lifetime" preservation of our heritage.
What Makes Galička Svadba So Extraordinary?
The Rituals: Pipes and drums echo across the stones of Bistra as the sounds of "Teshkoto" (the heavy folk dance) spread toward the sky. Witness ancient customs that are slowly dying elsewhere, such as the mother-in-law folk dance (svekrvino oro), the shaving of the groom, the kneading of the bread, and the carrying of the bride to the water.

At Braga, we have specialized in sending unaccompanied freight directly to Macedonia, handling every parcel with the same personal care and expertise that Gina started with decades ago.

Customs Regulations: Please remind your loved ones in Macedonia about the customs regulations introduced in December 2025. VAT and documentation fees now apply to all parcels, and recipients must pay these before their goods are released.

✈️ Travel Update – Europe Flights

Many of our clients have contacted us today after media reports about the Middle East situation and its potential impact on flights between Australia and Europe.

Some reports have unfortunately been misinterpreted as advice to cancel travel for the next 5–6 months. This is not the case.

The comments referenced in the media were about possible impacts such as higher fuel costs and narrower flight corridors, not a recommendation to cancel bookings.

Here is the current situation:

• Flights between Australia and Europe are still operating using a range of airlines and alternative routes.
• Turkish Airlines continues to operate services via Istanbul.
• Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad flights are currently paused due to temporary airspace restrictions in the Gulf.
• These disruptions are temporary, and future travel plans remain scheduled as normal at this stage.

If you are travelling soon and your flight is affected, the airline will advise of any changes and we will assist with rebooking options.

For clients travelling later in the year, there is currently no recommendation to cancel travel. Airlines and aviation authorities are actively adjusting routes to keep services operating safely.

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and support our clients if any changes arise.

✈️ Big Visa Changes Are Coming in 2026 – What Travellers Need to Know

The New Year is bringing major visa and entry rule changes across some of the world’s most popular destinations — and it could impact how (and how easily) you travel.

🇺🇸 United States
The US is set to overhaul its H-1B visa system, shifting away from the random lottery and instead prioritising high-skilled workers based on salary levels. A big move aimed at attracting top global talent.

🇧🇷 Brazil
Brazil will introduce a new e-visa system, allowing international visitors to apply fully online, making the process faster and more traveller-friendly.

🇫🇷🇮🇹🇩🇪🇪🇸 Europe (Schengen Area)
France, Italy, Germany, Spain (and others) will soon require travellers from visa-exempt countries to obtain ETIAS travel authorisation before entering the Schengen Zone.
Think of it as a pre-travel clearance designed to improve security while keeping borders moving smoothly.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom
The UK continues rolling out its own digital travel authorisation system, aligning with the global shift toward smarter borders.

These changes are part of a worldwide trend.
