WELL The Back Yard Tourists have embraced and enjoyed thoroughly our trip FROM Toowoomba down to Gillgandra to Broken Hill to Smoky Bay to Cenduna to Norseman to Esperance to Albany then to Perth and back to Albany and then returning to Toowoomba basically the same way.
37 Days (Just over 5 Weeks)
Too many HIGHLIGHTS to list just sunny days every day and we got to see MUCH MORE of this Great and Amazing Country.
Here are our COSTS and some extra data for everyone thinking about a trip likes this but maybe not in 5 WEEKS 🤣🤣☕️☕️☕️☕️🤣🤣
I will say I enjoyed every minute of the Driving and our UHF really came in handy again.
Telstra and Optus were hopeless in their coverage.
We came in under the $1.00 per KLM which surprised us.
I can highly recommend the bottom part of WA it is amazing and we’ve been there twice now and be lucky to see half of what it has to offer 😎😎
Our 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero towing 2.7 Tonnes of Jayco Caravan did an amazing job.

Left Ceduna yesterday morning and headed to Port Augusta. Another lovely day of driving but unfortunately a head wind which chewed our fuel. Have driven through Port Augusta a couple of times but never stayed. It is very dry and hot here at the moment but has a beautiful view of the Flinders Ranges and we even got to see dolphins in the Spencer Gulf.🩵🐬

Well today we are In Ceduna S.A. On our way home.
We have done just over 9,000Klms in 4 Weeks and loved every minute.
Best fuel economy towing our van was 15.0 Ltrs per 100 Ks mostly no wind or tail wind or tucked in behind a B Double.
Worst fuel economy towing was 19.8 Ltrs per 100 Ks due to high winds gusting to 50Ks at times and nothing to tuck in behind.
Truth - we thought this time of the year could be terrible BUT we have had every day sunshine, some windy day, water was cool but we still swam.
So far for 4 Weeks average Day Temperature 25 degrees.
So far for 4 Weeks average Night Temperature 14 degrees.
Best fuel price we paid $1.73.9 (Perth) and our worst we paid $2.42 (Cocklebiddy W.A.) HOWEVER the worst we saw was Nullarbor Road was $2.83 that’s where our 3 x 20 Litre Jerry Cans of Diesel came into play for the second time.
Petrol Spy was excellent again along with our UHF as a lot of Wide Loads on this trip to navigate.
Maintenance and Planning has paid a big part in a really hassle free trip so far because we have seen some poor caravaners on the side of the road, Roadhouses and on Tow Trucks.
We leave Ceduna tomorrow and head to Port Augusta, then Cobar, then Narrabri and finally Toowoomba which will end the 5 Weeks at roughly 11,500Klms.
We will put up all our costs and highlights and special information after we get back for those who are interested.
Cheers The Backyard Tourists

Soo my BIG update in about 2 parts.
Optus coverage in W.A. is horrendous!!
Telstra partnership deals is a little better BUT Pure Telstra is the best.
Albany has lots to see and do which we’ve put up already but it has one of the best Cafes / Coffee places - Three Anchors Cafe ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
We stayed at Rose Gardens C/P at Emu Point it’s a good park but even better was it’s located as it was central for what we were doing.
We went to Perth via Pemberton and Margret River and had a great day at the Fudge Factory, Brewery and Chocolate Factory.
Stayed with our Nephew and awesome family for 3 nights.
Then returned to Albany were we had left the Caravan which was a great plan.
More coming soon 🫣😂😂

What an Absolutely Awesome Day out at the Bremer Canyon which is located about 50Ks out to sea from Bremer Bay. The amazing crew from Naturaliste Charters (Marine Research) especially to do with Killer Whales took us out on there Catamaran. The crew were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. We left Albany at 5.15Am for Bremer Bay and got back to Albany at 7.30Pm today so a Big Day. Please everyone if you head to W.A. during The Killer Whale watching season these guys are a must and it’s worth every DOLLAR. We saw over 50 Killer Whales and yes many we saw at different times 3/4 times in different spots but just incredible - some even came right beside the catamaran and even under. Simply incredible.

So we have left Esperance and headed for Albany a trip of around 500 Ks. One thing I have embraced is checking the weather forecast not only for the place I’m heading to but the place I’m leaving.
For me it’s an idea of temperature but more importantly what the wind speeds are and directions. Today’s forecast was on the money so we had gusting southerly’s - so it was either a side wind or a head wind. Fuel consumption was around 17.5 Lts per 100 Ks. Bought fuel at roughly the halfway point at $1.99.9.
The highway was rough and again we either going up hill or down hill.
So we are in Albany and went to the Natural Bridge and the gap. I got a couple of good videos that I will add shortly.
Take care All
