Mort & Co was re-established in 1997 by Charlie Mort following the earlier registration of the company by his relative, Thomas Sutcliffe Mort, in 1843. Since its relaunch, the business has grown to become one of the largest and most experienced managers of lot fed cattle in Australia, and a leading exporter of premium Australian beef. Operating an integrated vertical supply chain model, Mort & Co produces quality Australian beef through the careful control of each aspect of the business, which currently includes cattle procurement, backgrounding, transportation, farming, lot feeding, beef processing and marketing. Currently, Mort & Co own two feedlots which have a combined capacity of 90,000 head (hd), turning over in excess of 215,000 cattle annually. The company continues to demonstrate an unwavering appetite for progression, maintaining a pattern of strong growth while international demand for Australian beef continues to rise. Home of the award-winning Phoenix Beef range, which encompasses a medium fed Black Angus program and two long fed Wagyu brands, Mort & Co is widely recognised as a distinguished beef supplier, harnessing the best of the Australian environment to bring high quality, succulent and tender beef to tables around the world. MORT’s MATES

What an incredible night we had catching up with our mates… the fourth annual Mort’s Mates didn’t disappoint. We were captivated by Michelle Payne, who shared her story of resilience and determination, as Australia’s first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup.

Our mateship was celebrated and penned perfectly by poet, Rupert McCall and our appetites more than satisfied by the incredible talents of Chefs Phil Johnson, Jerome Dalton and Dominique Rizzo.

To top it off, we raised more funds for our mates at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health to continue their research and development in brain health.

Thank you to our sponsors who continue to make this event possible 🤝

RDO | A Mort’s Mates Gala Dinner Sponsor and good mate of ours🤝

“Mental wellbeing matters, because our people matter. It influences how we support one another, how we show up for our customers and the communities we are proud to serve.

As a family owned business, we operate like a family. Loyal, protective and caring for each other. Often, it is the small things that make the biggest difference: noticing when someone seems different, taking the time to check in and being prepared to listen.” – Scott Carpendale; CEO | RDO Equipment.

We echo Scott’s sentiments – it is the reason RDO continues to be one of our biggest supporters. Together we are making a difference to the mental health of thousands of Australians.

ES Logistics | A Mort’s Mates Gala Dinner Sponsor and a good mate of ours 🤝

“There is a personal reason for us to support Mort’s Mates. There are too many people from rural and regional communities who are not with us anymore. We have seen firsthand the consequences and the disastrous legacy faced by those left behind. Having grown up in the country and as a shareholder and supporter of Mort & Co and now KIVAS since its earliest days, partnering with Mort's Mates makes sense.

We applaud what Mort’s Mate’s are doing and we are proud to be involved.” – Matthew Cook; ES Logistics
