Every year we see the same thing across the country 🔥 — piles of prunings, fallen timber and clearing debris pushed together and burnt off. The smoke goes up, the ash blows away, and the land gets very little back.

Our Pure Pecan Biochar comes from a single, clean feedstock: pecan nutshells. That consistency is why more graziers and poultry keepers are asking about it as a feed ingredient.

Farmers typically mix a small amount into rations, molasses or lick blends, or sprinkle it over feed. The same char then moves through the animal, into the manure and back onto the paddock, so it does a second job in your soil.

🌱 From pecan shells to mine rehabilitation — a project we're proud of

We recently supplied and coordinated the delivery of 300 tonnes of biochar and 300 tonnes of recycled gypsum to a mine rehabilitation site in the Central West of NSW.

The site — 60 hectares disturbed by mining — is being returned to native vegetation, with biochar and gypsum applied at 5 tonnes per hectare each to help rebuild the soil and give the new plantings the best start.

What we love about this one:
🥜 The biochar was made from pecan nutshell — an agricultural by-product that would otherwise go to waste, turned into a long-lasting soil amendment.
♻️ The gypsum was a recycled product — another waste stream given a second life.
🚛 Byron Biochar handled the whole supply chain — sourcing, certification, freight and delivery — landing seven B-double loads onto an active mine site, to spec.

It's a great reminder that biochar isn't just for the garden or the farm — it has a real role in healing disturbed land and supporting native revegetation at scale.
