: A major structure fire has completely engulfed Tamar Marine, a family-run boating business that has operated in Launceston for more than 40 years.

The blaze broke out shortly after midnight at the West Tamar Road premises, with the building quickly engulfed in flames.

Emergency services remain on scene battling the fire, while police have closed West Tamar Road in both directions and diverted traffic via Forest Road.

Tamar Marine has operated in the region since 1979, servicing Tasmania’s fishing and boating industry.
