The importance of pre-start checks

Always keep an eye on your exhaust, look at the amount of steam and the colour of the smoke. Judging by the colour of the smoke, it might be time to look at the injectors on the port engine.
White smoke= low compression
Blue smoke is oil
Black smoke is unburnt fuel
And excessive steam is lack of water flow.
