Travel Advisory: flight disruptions in the Middle East
5 March 2026 1:00pm AEST

Following widespread suspension or re-routing of many flights to, from, or via the Middle East, some airlines are able to resume limited operations, starting with repatriation and freighter flights. A number of airspace restrictions remain in place.

All travel alerts are current as at this update and are subject to change as required by authorities for public safety. Here’s what we know from some of our airline partners right now:
* All scheduled Emirates (EK) flights to and from Dubai remain suspended until 2359hrs UAE time on 7 March, due to airspace closures across the region. Emirates continues to operate a limited number of passenger repatriation and freighter flights.

* All Etihad Airways (EY) scheduled commercial flights to and from Abu Dhabi remain suspended until 0600hrs UAE time on Friday 6 March. Some repositioning, cargo and repatriation flights may operate in coordination with UAE authorities and subject to strict operational and safety approvals.

* Qatar (QR) - Qatar Airways will resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of Qatari airspace.

We advise all customers with travel plans involving the Middle East, including flights that may transit through the region, to:
- Check your booking regularly for the latest updates from your airline

- Do not proceed to the airport without confirming your flight status, as last-minute changes may occur.
