🍀 **WHAT A WEEKEND AT THE NEWCASTLE EXPO!** 🍀

What a fantastic few days we had at the Newcastle Outdoor Adventure & Lifestyle Expo!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the **Shamrock Caravan Shop** stand. It was wonderful catching up with so many of our existing customers, and just as exciting meeting so many new faces — including people buying their first caravan, upgrading to their next one, or **downsizing from a larger caravan to something smaller and more manageable for their next chapter of travelling.** 🚐

One thing that really stood out for us was that **Shamrock Caravan Shop was the only dedicated caravan repair workshop exhibiting at the Expo.** 🔧🚐

For us, that made the weekend particularly worthwhile. We had so many great conversations about servicing, repairs, insurance work, upgrades and preventative maintenance — and plenty of interest in our **Leak Detection service**, including seeing it demonstrated live.

We loved being able to answer real questions with real workshop experience and introduce people to the team who actually work on caravans every day.

To our existing customers who came over just to say hello — **thank you!** It genuinely meant a lot to see you. ❤️

And to everyone we met for the first time, we hope to see you again soon at our workshop in Charmhaven.

Planning to take the caravan away over the Christmas and summer holidays?

**Now is the time to get it ready.**

Every year, we see the same thing happen. Caravan owners leave servicing, repairs and upgrades until just before their trip, only to discover that workshops are already booked out.

A **standard caravan service can take around 4 to 5 hours of workshop time** and if we find something that needs repairing, replacing or ordering, we need additional time to get everything completed before you travel.

🌅 Not a bad way to finish the day!

We captured this beautiful sunset at Canton Beach Caravan Park after attending to customers staying at the park.

Our Shamrock work caravan is also set up nearby with the other guests, so we couldn’t resist stopping to take in the view before calling it a day.

One of the things we love about being out and about on the Central Coast is being able to look after our customers where they’re staying and enjoy moments like this along the way. 💚

When your slide out starts playing up, it can be more than just a motor problem.

At **Shamrock Caravan Workshop**, we’re seeing more caravans and motorhomes coming through with slide out issues, and often one problem has led to another.

Common issues we’re finding include:

🔧 Ageing, damaged or deteriorated slide out seals
💧 Water getting past the seals and into motors and electrical components
⚡ Motor and electrical faults caused by water ingress
⚙️ Motors becoming out of sync, causing one side of the slide to move differently to the other
🛠️ Tracking and alignment problems
⚠️ Damage to worm drive tracks and mechanisms when the slide jams or travels unevenly

With larger slide outs, keeping both sides synchronised is critical. Once one side starts moving differently, the slide can track unevenly, place enormous strain on the mechanism and eventually damage the drive system.

And when that happens, it isn’t always as simple as replacing a motor.

**This is specialist work.**

Our technicians at **Shamrock Caravan Workshop** have experience diagnosing, removing, repairing, realigning and reinstalling large slide out systems in **caravans, motorhomes, fifth wheelers and other RVs**.

The photos give you an idea of just how substantial these systems are once they're removed. There’s a lot more happening behind that button than simply “slide in” and “slide out”.

If your slide out is hesitating, making unusual noises, leaking, moving unevenly or not closing correctly, get it checked before a smaller problem becomes a much bigger repair.

🌨️ **HAIL OR IMPACT DAMAGE TO THE ROOF: What looks minor can become a major caravan repair.**

When hail damages the roof of a caravan, repairing just the damaged section often isn’t an option.

Caravan roof panels are **interlocked during construction**, with each panel connecting to the next. That means damage to even one section can require the **entire roof to be carefully removed and rebuilt**.

This caravan is currently in our workshop undergoing a full roof replacement following hail damage.

🎥 In the video, we’ll take you behind the scenes to show:

🔧 Our technicians removing the existing roof
🏗️ How the replacement roof panels are fabricated in our workshop
🧩 How the panels interlock and are assembled
🔨 The work involved in rebuilding and resealing the roof correctly

It’s also a very good reminder to **review your caravan insurance regularly and make sure the insured value and level of cover reflect what it would actually cost to repair or replace your caravan today.**

A repair that may look straightforward from the outside can involve significant labour, materials and specialist workmanship once the construction of the caravan is taken into account.

Rolling into Shamrock today is this **massive six berth horse float setup** and it certainly makes an impression!

But size isn’t the challenge when you have the right experience behind you.
