Starting tomorrow, the wind drops away, the sun’s out and Great Keppel Island is looking seriously good. 💙

September is one of our favourite times of year — crystal-clear water, incredible underwater visibility and whales migrating past the island as we head into spring. 🐋🤿

🚨 THE TRINITY IS OFFICIALLY ON THE WATER! 🚨

After our soft launch earlier this year, the Portless Trinity has officially completed her first hire with GKI Boat Hire — and what a day to do it. ☀️🌴💦

As the weather starts turning it on for the rest of the year, we’re incredibly excited to finally have this wild little vessel available for bookings.

🇦🇺 This is the first Portless Trinity of its kind operating commercially in Australian waters.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is shaping up to be an absolute cracker all day around Great Keppel Island, and we’ve still got some availability left!

Sunday has plenty of boats available too. There’ll be a bit more easterly breeze around, but that still leaves plenty of beautiful coastline to explore towards Putney, Leekes, Second Beach and Little Peninsula. 🏝️🌊

Pack the swimmers, fishing gear, an esky — even the dog 🐶 — and head off on your own island adventure.

🌊 A voice from Great Keppel Island in the Coral Sea conversation

We’re pretty proud to see GKI Boat Hire owner Theo George featured by Save Our Marine Life as part of their national campaign around the current Coral Sea Marine Park review.

Living and working on the Great Barrier Reef every day gives us a pretty unique perspective. We see firsthand how healthy marine ecosystems support incredible wildlife, great fishing, tourism and the coastal communities that depend on them.

As Theo shared in the campaign:

“Living and working on the reef every day, you see how important the Great Barrier Reef green zones are for fish breeding and reef recovery…”

The Australian Government is currently reviewing the management of the Coral Sea Marine Park, and public consultation is open until 30 September 2026.

Importantly for our local community, this review does not change Great Barrier Reef Marine Park zoning around Great Keppel Island. It’s about the enormous Coral Sea Marine Park further offshore.

We’re proud to have a little voice from Great Keppel Island included in a much bigger conversation about the future of our oceans. 💙

Pulled up beside one of our hire boats, showed the crew this cracking giant herring, sent it straight back in — then pointed them towards the school so they could have a crack themselves.

At GKI Boat Hire, dogs are welcome aboard our Polycraft hire boats, because island adventures are even better with your four-legged crew. 🐶🌴

A quick heads-up:
• Our boats are limited to 3 people maximum.
• Dogs don’t count as one of those passengers, so you can still have 3 people onboard.
• They do count towards the vessel’s maximum weight limit of 217kg, so just keep that in mind when planning your day.

Whether you’re chasing secluded beaches, crystal-clear water or simply soaking up the sunshine, your pup is welcome to enjoy it all with you.

They headed out from Fisherman’s Beach with one goal—to explore Great Keppel Island—and what a day it turned into.
