We're continuing on with our floral themed Wild Wednesdays as we just cannot get enough of these beautiful colours carpeting the desert and bringing our already incredible landscape to the next level. 🌸🌼

Today's floral beauty is a Keeled Fringe Myrtle (Calytrix carinata). This stunning flower has been spotted in bloom both within Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and around the resort.🌸🏵

When tourists ask us how we handle guiding tours in the desert heat day after day, we keep it simple: PPE, Sunscreen, and serious Hydration.
🔹 PPE: Lightweight layers, sunglasses, and a wide-brim hat keep the sun off while keeping you cool.
🔹 Sunscreen: Reapply often! The desert sun does not play around.
🔹 Hydration: Aim for 1 liter of water per hour on the trail.

If you're heading to the Red Centre with your teens this holiday break, there’s no better way to explore Uluru than on a Segway. Whether you're cruising a section of the base or gliding the full 10km loop, our tours get you up close to the Uluru without tiring out those legs!

Even if they’ve never ridden one before, our guides walk the whole family through our training track first so everyone feels 100% confident before setting off.

Important Rider Requirements:
Please note participants must be at least 12 years old and weigh between 45kg–117kg. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Wild Wednesday | The Red Centre is in full bloom! 🌺🏜️

Central Australia is still putting on one of the most magnificent wildflower shows. And sitting right at the top of the list is this absolute showstopper: the Sturt’s Desert Pea (Swainsona formosa).

Why this flower is a desert icon:

🎨 Unmistakable Look: With its striking blood-red petals and glossy black centre, there is nothing else in the Outback looks quite like it.

💧 Ultimate Survivor: Its hard-shelled seeds can lie dormant in the dry red soil for years, waiting patiently for the perfect soak before bursting into life.

🌿 Low to the Ground: Unlike many wildflowers that stretch tall, Desert Peas run along the ground on prostrate vines, anchoring into the soil to maximise moisture.

Seeing vibrant blooms carpeting the red dirt against a clear blue outback sky is pure magic. Keep your eyes peeled along the trails around Uluru✨

Nothing says "Welcome to Central Australia" like a flock of a Red-tailed Black Cockatoo! 🌅🪶

This flock of four was captured enjoying the sunshine in Alice Springs—the gateway to the Red Centre before making the trip down to Uluru.

Whether they’re feeding high up in River Red Gums or flying in formation against the outback landscape, these intelligent birds are a favourite sight for locals and travellers alike.

If you're considering visiting Central Australia and planning a trip to explore more than just Uluru, consider including the beautiful West MacDonnell (Tjoritja) Ranges.

While there you can visit many beautiful gorges, waterholes, and hiking paths—however, one of our favourite stops is Standley Chasm (Angkerle Atwatye). Standing between the towering 80-metre sheer rock walls around midday when the sunlight hits the red walls and makes them glow is pure magic.

Today's Wild Wednesday is about a small shrub that you'd likely not notice at times when it isn't in flower 🌸, however after recent desert rains, it's hard to go past this beautiful Gibson's Desert Fuchsia (Eremophila gibsonii), without stopping to take a photograph. This beautiful plant is restricted to Central Australia however is fairly common among our red desert dunes.

Ever heard a high-pitched whistling sound when a bird takes off near the track? That’s the Crested Pigeon!

These native Outback locals are famous for two things: their stylish punk-rock feather crests and the unique, whistling sound their wing feathers make when taking flight—which actually acts as an alarm system to alert the rest of the flock to danger!

Keep an eye out for these punk-rock locals strutting along our dusty red tracks or town square lawns.
