Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, formerly known as Zia International Airport, is the largest airport in Bangladesh located just 11 miles (17 kilometres) from Dhaka city in Kurmitola. It has an area of 1,981 acres and serves approximately 6 million international and domestic passengers every year as well as 150,000 tons of cargo and freight, this equates to 52% of the country's total arrivals and departures.
