This we do on behalf of around 17.000 operators and companies in the Nordic countries who are members of the founding associations of NLA.

NLA represents Danish Transport and Logistics (DTL), the Norwegian Road Transport Association (NLF) and the Swedish Association of Road Transport Companies (SÅ) in Brussels with support from its associated member Finnish Transport and Logistics SKAL. NLA was established to ensure that the common interests and positions of its Nordic haulier associations are promoted in close dialogue with the EU institutions and transport stakeholders in Brussels. Our aim is to constructively forward the views of the members of the founding associations in the relevant EU decision making processes, and thereby contribute to the work of improving the framework conditions for transport operators in the Nordic countries and beyond.

Congratulations to FNTR on its 80th Congress. An important milestone for the French road transport industry! 🇫🇷🚛

A real pleasure to join our French colleagues in Paris for this special occasion, alongside colleagues from across the EU. Always great to reconnect with good friends from across the road transport industry.

A good opportunity to exchange ideas on the future of road transport, discussing key challenges such as competitiveness, the green transition, and the important role of road transport in military mobility.

Thank you to FNTR for the warm welcome and congrats again with the anniversary!

Military mobility starts with civilian mobility.

That was one of the key messages coming through in our discussions at Nordic Logistics association Annual Meeting in Oslo hosted by our colleagues from Norges Lastebileier-Forbund

The takeaways of the meeting:

🔹 Take initiative: Identify what needs to be done and get it done without waiting for others.
🔹 Work together: Military mobility requires cross-border cooperation and strong collaboration with civilian logistics and transport.
🔹 Build on civilian mobility: Improve mapping of transport capacity and strengthen long-term public-private cooperation.

It was also a great opportunity for us to hand over NLA’s report on military mobility to Norwegian stakeholders, highlighting the importance of strengthening cooperation across the Nordic countries. 🇸🇪🇳🇴🇩🇰🇫🇮

A lot of positive energy and hands-on proposals from the International Network of Young Entrepreneurs in Road Transport, who joined us this week for meetings and workshops in Brussels.

It was great to see the next generation of road transport leaders from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, France, Germany and the Netherlands come together to discuss how we ensure a competitive and attractive road transport sector. 🇸🇪🇩🇰🇳🇴🇫🇮🇫🇷🇩🇪🇳🇱

They brought something essential to the discussions: real-life experiences from running transport businesses. 🚛🚚

From examples of companies training drivers in-house, and the need to modernise rigid five-year training requirements so drivers gain the skills needed in a rapidly changing sector. To companies investing in charging infrastructure and exploring how to make it available to others, only to face burdensome requirements as energy sellers.

These are the practical realities that need to be taken into account when shaping policy. And it was very encouraging to see European decision-makers listen.

Many thanks to the colleagues from the Common Road Transport Office for the excellent organisation. And thanks to the many stakeholders who joined us for good discussions!

Thank you to the organisers of the Fair Transport and Labour Mobility Lunch at the European Parliament for bringing together policymakers, researchers, trade unions and employers for an important discussion on the future of European road transport.

I was pleased to contribute on behalf of the Nordic road transport industry, highlighting a few simple but important messages:

🔹Fair competition depends on effective enforcement.
🔹Strong rules only make a difference when they are properly enforced.
🔹The Nordic model demonstrates that attractive working conditions and a competitive transport sector can go hand in hand.

For all of this to happen, we need a strong social dialogue between the social partners.

And finally, EU Member States must prioritise sufficient resources to properly enforce the Mobility Package. 🚛🚚

The European Parliament is now finalising the text on the Weights and Dimensions directive.🇪🇺

As this legislation moves forward, we want to highlight a key point: allowing heavier, longer, and higher-capacity vehicles can make freight transport significantly more efficient.

More capacity means more pallets transported in a single trip, resulting in fewer journeys, better efficiency, and lower emissions.🚛🌍

Good discussions yesterday morning at our breakfast event in the European Parliament, organised together with the Common Road Transport Office (NLA, BGL, FNTR, TLN) and the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), as negotiations on the Weights and Dimensions Directive move forward. ☕🇪🇺

For NLA, the message is straightforward: longer and heavier vehicle combinations are one of the most effective tools we have to increase productivity, move more goods with fewer drivers, and reduce emissions per pallet transported. All while supporting a parallel transition to battery electric trucks. 🚚🚛

Importantly, this is not about choosing one transport mode over another. Road, rail and maritime complement each other and all play an essential role in Europe’s logistics system.

A more efficient road sector will only help to strengthen intermodal solutions in Europe, benefitting the entire logistical system.

A big thank you to MEPs, truck manufacturers, EU Member States and colleagues who contributed to an open, candid and constructive discussion. Not least many thanks to Dirk Saile from BGL for facilitating and organising the meeting with ACEA.
