ESPORG has officially signed the IRU Charter for Women in Road Transport, reinforcing its commitment to improving working conditions and supporting women's participation and career development across the sector.

For ESPORG, this commitment is closely linked to the role of Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas in creating safe, dignified and welcoming environments for all drivers.

Through the six principles of the Charter, the industry is encouraged to advance:

Equal opportunities in recruitment and career development.

Fair pay and better work-life balance.

Fair treatment and conflict resolution.

Safe, secure and dignified working environments, including appropriate parking and sanitary facilities.

Through the Ewellin - European Wellbeing Initiative, powered by ESPORG, and its Women Wellbeing Working Group, ESPORG is also working with IRU and CP to research the needs and challenges of female truck drivers and translate their experiences into practical improvements.

Building a transport sector where women can enter, grow and thrive is a shared responsibility.

🇪🇺 MFF 2028–2034: ESPORG and EU Transport Alliance of 39 organisations Urge EU Leaders to Secure Ambitious Transport Funding
🚛 Investing in transport means investing in Europe’s competitiveness, security and future.
European Commission's studies show that completing the TEN-T core network would add 1.8% to EU GDP and create 10 million jobs by 2030.
🌍 Efficient and resilient transport infrastructure — including safe and secure truck parking areas, roads, railways, ports, airports and inland waterways — is vital for Europe's economic growth, energy security and military mobility.

ESPORG and the alliance of 39 European transport organisations in calling on EU leaders to restore and strengthen transport funding in the next EU budget.

ESPORG participated today in the high-level conference “Integration and Connectivity along the BBA and Rhine–Danube Corridors: Joint Solutions for the TEN-T Core Network”, organised by the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in Constanța.

Dirk Penasse, General Manager of ESPORG, was a speaker in Panel II – “Military Mobility and Strategic Resilience: Strengthening Europe’s Dual-Use Transport Network”, highlighting the strategic role of safe and secure truck parking areas:
“Safe and secure truck parking areas are strategic dual-use infrastructure. Strengthening Europe’s military mobility requires close cooperation between EU institutions, Romanian authorities, industry and parking operators, supported by adequate funding and harmonised standards.”

The conference brought together high-level representatives of European institutions, national authorities and defence organisations, including Margarida Marques - European Coordinator for the Rhine–Danube Corridor; Mario Mauro - European Coordinator for the Baltic Sea–Black Sea–Aegean Sea Corridor; Sorin-Dan Moldovan, State Secretary at the Romanian Ministry of National Defence; Radu Cojocariu, Military Mobility Action Officer - EU Military Staff.

🤝 The conference also provided a valuable opportunity for ESPORG to strengthen cooperation and dialogue with the European Commission, Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and national authorities, industry partners Uniunea Societăților de Expediții din România - USER, and the academic community Faculty of Transport at Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București Anamaria Ilie

ESPORG was honored to attended the 80th FNTR Congress in Paris – Strong Partnerships, Shared Priorities!

Congratulations to Florence Dupasquier, FNTR President, Florence BERTHELOT, FNTR General Delegate, and the entire FNTR team on a successful 80th Congress! With concluding today in Brussels, ESPORG marks three productive days of exchanges and discussions on advancing Safe and Secure Parking Areas across Europe’s TEN-T network.

Today, we were honoured to welcome to the ESPORG stand Anne E Jensen - European Coordinator for the Baltic Sea–Adriatic Sea Corridor; François Bausch, European Coordinator for the Atlantic Corridor; and Marian-Jean Marinescu, European Coordinator for the Western Balkans–Eastern Mediterranean Corridor.

Across all the corridor meetings, ESPORG General Manager Dirk Penasse highlighted existing secure parking capacity, CEF-funded projects, remaining gaps and priority areas for further SSPA development. With 4025 additional certified truck parking areas needed in the EU until 2040, continued cooperation and investment remain essential.

Throughout CED2026, ESPORG also held high-level discussions with EU representatives, strengthened cooperation with transport & logistics industry and welcomed new members and partners to our growing network.

Safe and Secure Truck Parking took centre stage today at Connecting Europe Days 2026 in Brussels.
🎙️ ESPORG General Manager Dirk Penasse joined Session 38 – “Safe truck parking as the backbone of resilient and green road freight corridors”, bringing the parking operators’ perspective to the European discussion on accelerating the deployment of certified Safe and Secure Parking Areas across the TEN-T network. The session was moderated by Frédéric Versini, Head of Unit C1 – Road Transport, DG MOVE , European Commission.
ESPORG’s message was clear: SSPAs are strategic transport infrastructure. Beyond safety and security, the parking areas of the future must support drivers’ wellbeing, digitalisation, zero-emission freight and dual-use military mobility.
🤝 At the ESPORG stand, we were also delighted to welcome Magda Kopczyńska Director-General of DG MOVE. Throughout the day, ESPORG was honoured by the visits of Margarida Marques, European Coordinator for the Rhine–Danube Corridor; Mathieu Grosch, European Coordinator for the Mediterranean Corridor; and Pat Cox, European Coordinator for the Scandinavian–Mediterranean Corridor.
Dirk Penasse presented ESPORG’s corridor-level analysis, highlighting existing secure parking capacity, CEF-funded projects, remaining gaps and priority hotspots for further SSPA development.

🇪🇺 An impactful first day for ESPORG at Connecting Europe Days 2026 in Brussels!
Connecting Europe Days 2026 kicked off today with an opening address by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, bringing together more than 4,500 participants to shape the future of European mobility.
ESPORG General Manager Dirk Penasse was honoured to meet Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, who is hosting this year’s Connecting Europe Days.
🚛 Shaping the parking of the future
At the Marketplace, Dirk Penasse presented ESPORG’s vision of parking as an essential service hub for the logistics chain — from the EU Parking Standard to EWELLIN, the Green Parking Standard and dual-use infrastructure.
🤝 Strengthening SSPA along Europe’s TEN-T corridors
We were honoured to welcome to the ESPORG stand Prof. Paweł Wojciechowski, European Coordinator for the North Sea–Rhine–Mediterranean European Transport Corridor, and Mario Mauro, European Coordinator for the Baltic Sea–Black Sea–Aegean Sea European Transport Corridor.
💙 Driver wellbeing: a shared responsibility across the entire supply chain
ESPORG Wellbeing Campaign Ambassador Iuliana Badea, Secretary General of Uniunea Societăților de Expediții din România - USER, compellingly presented the Ewellin - European Wellbeing Initiative during CED2026 session “Improving working conditions in transport and tourism”, moderated by Magda Kopczyńska, Director-General of DG MOVE.
