🗯️ As the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026 started in July, we welcome the focus on & security.

Competitiveness is the condition for quality jobs, for financing the green & digital transitions & for our social model. As Europe has industrial capacity, a world‑class workforce & a powerful Single Market, what we need is to unlock them:

✅ Simplification
✅ Remove fragmentation
✅ Open trade

⚡ High and volatile energy prices are putting European energy-intensive industries at risk, and with them entire value chains and jobs.

policy must support not only decarbonisation, but also competitiveness, security and investment. Every climate measure should pass a clear industrial competitiveness test to assess its impact on energy-intensive sectors.

The EU must accelerate investment in infrastructure and innovation, such as grids, storage, interconnections and new technologies, because industrial decarbonisation should go hand in hand with infrastructure development.

🌊 The European Industrial Strategy marks an important milestone in recognising the strategic role of Europe's maritime sector.

Europe's maritime ecosystem, which encompasses shipping, maritime manufacturing, ports and the wider waterborne value chain, is indispensable for Europe's energy and food security, industrial supply chains and economic prosperity.

As European shipping represents around 35% of the global fleet and carries approximately 75% of the EU's external trade, European policies should preserve open markets, ensure fair competition and avoid measures that could undermine the sector's competitiveness.

📍 In our Opinion, we call for safe, sustainable, affordable and scalable alternative marine fuels across European ports and encourage the European Commission to engage fuel suppliers in this exercise.

🏠 Across Europe, more & more people struggle to find affordable .

Building more houses & speeding up renovations is the obvious solution but this will only be possible through a lasting reduction in construction costs, by ensuring access to materials & developing a skilled workforce to address labour shortages.

🔷 The European Commission's proposal for a European Innovative Company (EU Inc.) is much more than another company law initiative.

The objective is not to replace national legal systems, but to complement them by creating optional European legal frameworks that companies can choose when operating across borders. Its purpose is not harmonisation for its own sake, but the gradual removal of internal barriers that continue to fragment the . EU Inc. is the first practical expression of this approach.

⚡ Energy storage is crucial infrastructure for a sovereign and affordable European Union.

Yet it requires a system capable of absorbing, transporting, storing and delivering it where and when it is needed. Storage is key: it turns variable generation into readily available power, curbs renewable energy curtailment, relieves grid congestion, smooths price fluctuations, lowers balancing costs and strengthens security of supply.
