Report: Testival at Wasserkuppe 2026
Here, flying in the Rhön is beautifully combined with the opportunity to test the latest UP paragliders.
Approximately 200 pilots attended the event from May 2-3, 2026. Our MANA 2 (EN/LTF A, Light), MAKALU 5 (EN/LTF B), LHOTSE X (EN/LTF B, Light, 2.5-liner), and TORRE (EN/LTF C, 2-liner) were especially of interest. We’re thrilled by all the positive feedback and we're particularly pleased, that pilots who were initially skeptical about whether the LHOTSE X, as a 2.5-liner, was right for them, praised the glider after trying it out. The initial “reluctance” toward the hybrid design gave way to an appreciation of its advantages: less drag, better performance, etc. It was a bit too windy for flying at times this weekend, which is why there was also a lot of groundhandling. The expansive and relatively flat slopes of the Wasserkuppe are ideal for this. The organizer has posted a video of the event - the interview with UP starts at the 3-minute mark.
