🌍 USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT & REMOVALS
If you are planning an international move or transporting your belongings to another country, there are a few important things you should check before booking.
⚠️ 1. Check the transport licence
A company carrying goods or household belongings for third parties for payment must have the appropriate transport licence or authorisation required by law for the transport operation.
🚚 2. Vehicle insurance ≠ goods-in-transit insurance
Do not confuse vehicle insurance with goods-in-transit / CMR insurance.
Insurance covering the van or truck does not automatically provide the same protection for your belongings.
📄 3. Ask to see the documents
Before your belongings are loaded, you should ask the carrier or driver to show you the relevant documents, including:
• The transport licence / authorisation
• Goods-in-transit / CMR insurance
• The relevant vehicle and transport documents
• Confirmation that the vehicle complies with the applicable tachograph requirements
⏱️ 4. Tachograph & international transport rules
Since 1 July 2026, light commercial vehicles over 2.5 tonnes and up to 3.5 tonnes used for international transport or cabotage are subject to the applicable EU tachograph and driving/rest-time rules.
Non-compliance can result in fines, inspections, delays and, depending on the circumstances, vehicle immobilisation.
💡 Don’t choose an international transport company based only on price.
Before handing over your belongings, check the transport authorisation, insurance and compliance with the applicable international transport rules.
A few simple checks can help you avoid unpleasant surprises during your international move. 🚚🌍📦
