Some colleagues you only know as a little square on a screen. So, this week, our Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, and Polish teams traded video calls for the pine forests of Druskininkai! 🌲

A change of scenery, working side by side, and most importantly, enjoying quality time with colleagues we rarely get to see in person. That’s what our workation was all about!

Between work sessions, we’ve been:
🧠 Battling it out at trivia night
🌿 Learning about herbs in the forest
🍲 Enjoying farm-fresh food that tastes just like grandma’s cooking
🏃‍♀️ Lacing up for a morning run before getting back to work
♨️ Relaxing at a local sauna by the lake

Sometimes the best connections happen beyond the screen - over shared meals, long walks, and a bit of friendly competition.

As businesses seek to combine flexibility with reliable access to capacity, shorter contracts are taking on an increasingly important role in air cargo planning. ✈️

According to data reported by Air Cargo Week, 60% of new airfreight contracts starting in Q3 were for three months or less, up from 25% a year earlier. September demand grew 6% year-on-year, while capacity increased just 2%, keeping pressure on rates.

For airlines and freight forwarders, we believe shorter commitments make regular communication and clear capacity planning even more important. Pricing flexibility needs to be supported by a practical understanding of available space, routing options, and shipment requirements.

At Strike Aviation, we see strong relationships and local market knowledge as essential to that coordination. Working closely with our airline and forwarding partners helps us respond to changing conditions while keeping operational reliability at the centre of each decision. As Q4 progresses, maintaining dialogue will be important to match available capacity with customer requirements.

This time, we spoke with our Sales & Operations Manager, Jolanta Buga, about the lessons logistics has taught her, from staying adaptable to understanding the impact of every task.

“No two days are ever the same. Every day comes with its own challenges, customer requirements, and unexpected disruptions that require quick thinking and effective teamwork," she points out.

For Jolanta, this is one of the things that makes air cargo so rewarding. The industry has taught her to stay flexible and prepared, knowing that even the best-laid plans can change in an instant. It has also shaped her understanding of responsibility. “No matter how small a task may seem, it can have an impact on the success of an entire operation," she adds.

And behind every successful shipment is a team working together. Sharing information, supporting colleagues, and staying focused on a common goal can make all the difference when navigating complex situations.
