🤔 What has the EU Cycling Group (EUCG) 🚴‍♀️ been doing during the 1st half of 2024?

We have spent our free time advocating for:
✔ the use of the bicycle to commute to work among the EU institutions staff, with joined-up transport, especially bikes on trains, trams and the metro; and support better bicycle parking, theft-prevention, and improved amenities including showers;
✔ air quality in locations of the EU institutions;
✔ safe cycling conditions on frequently used commutes;
✔ Velomai!

We cooperate systematically with the local authorities and other cycling organisations to promote a more bicycle-friendly environment.

We have a special message for those living in , in particular those in : All our efforts mean little if we do not vote in the upcoming local elections on 13 October 2024.

You need to register to vote before 31 July 2024 (if not done in the past) or you will not be able to vote at all.

If you care about active mobility as much as we do in the city that has become our home, have a say. Your voting rights in your country of origin (national, regional, EU) are not affected.

This link has all the instructions you need to follow. If you do it online, it takes less than 5 minutes: https://bit.ly/3EAwL0l

If you still have doubts, we highly recommend that you check the fantastic work done by Brussels Commissioner for Europe and International Organisations, VoteBrussels and restless.brussels.

Have a very nice summer! 🏖

Cycling is a double win 🚲

It gets your heart pumping and lungs happy, all while reducing air pollution and carbon emissions.

Cycling offers a great mode of active travel which is also more cost effective for local governments. A study found that cycling and related infrastructure have been found to be substantially lower cost than other transport modes.

By making the move to two wheels, we can all take simple steps to better our wellbeing and the environment, and push for improved cycling infrastructure to transform streets and communities for good.

A GIF is worth a thousand words! 😉 The Low Emission Zone ( *Z) greatly improves air quality in . 🌬️ The latest monitoring by Bruxelles Environnement Leefmilieu Brussel pinpoints a decrease in certain pollutants and, for the first time, a reduction of up to 30% in NO₂ along the main routes since 2018 🙌
